Ashutosh Gowarikar’s quest to attain enlightenment!

Ashutosh Gowarikar is done with medieval history, Mughal India and the British Raj.

The director feels he’s explored those subjects to his heart’s content in Lagaan, Jodha Akbar, Mohenjo Daro and Panipat, and thinks it’s time to move on. That said, he isn’t quite done with the past, since his next project will take us to Ancient India! Yup, Ashu’s putting together a script about Prince Siddhartha’s journey to becoming Gautama Buddha. The movie will focus on the events that prompted the Prince’s quest to attain enlightenment. I wonder who he’ll cast as the legendary royal.

Three Khans come together in a Ashutosh Gowariker’s next film! Is it true?

The dream of a film with three Khans - Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan is becoming true.

And this is all set to happen this year! Yes, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is all set to bring the three megastars of the country in his next movie. He made this official announcement via Twitter yesterday by stating, "It is official!! It can be told now. My next film is starring #The3Khans! @aamir_khan @BeingSalmanKhan @iamsrk and its called? Any guesses?"

But wait, after an hour, Ashu wrote a new tweet which just saddened us like never before. Here's what he tweeted, "Gussa mat hoiye! Sorry if you missed a beat in joy! Wish it was true! Have FUN on APRIL FOOL'S DAY! @aamir_khan @BeingSalmanKhan @iamsrk"

We definitely wanted for a big union Gowariker style in his next magnum opus. But now, we have to wait some more to see this happen.

In the meantime, Ashutosh's last directorial was the Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo Daro which released last year. The movie failed to impress at the box-office.

Previously when Ashutosh Gowariker was asked about his next project, he told, "I have not decided what I want to do next, but soon in four weeks, I will be able to make an announcement about my next project."

Ashutosh Gowariker’s comeback as an actor with 'Ventilator!

Much-admired filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, known for his movies such as Lagaan, Swades, Jodhaa Akbar and Mohenjo Daro, was last seen on the silver screen in the 1992 movie Chamatkar starring Shah Rukh Khan and Naseeruddin Shah and now, more than a decade later, Gowariker will make a comeback to acting in Priyanka Chopra's forthcoming production endeavor Ventilator.

Seemingly, it was director Rajesh Mapuskar, who came up with the idea of signing up Gowariker for the role as he wanted an actor with no baggage and with a good persona. The teaser of the movie was publicized and from what we could see, the movie revolves around one Gajanan Kaka, who is admitted in a hospital and has been kept on a ventilator and how this situation affects his friends and family members. Gowariker is seen playing a family member and we must say that it was quite good to see the filmmaker on the silver screen after a long time.

Apart from Gowariker, Ventilator also stars Jitendra Joshi, Sukanya Kulkarni, Nikhil Ratnaparkhi, Usha Nadkarni, Satish Alekar and others.

Relief for Mohenjo Daro. Court imposes Rs 1.5 lakh fine on petitioner!

Team Mohenjo Daro is winning one battle after the other. After getting a U/A Certificate from the Censor Board, without any cuts, they now have another reason to cheer. After months of speculation and allegations, the truth has finally succeeded and justice has been served.

The Bombay High Court, on Tuesday, ruled in favour of director Ashutosh Gowariker in a suit filed against him by Akashaditya Lama, wherein Lama had alleged that Gowariker stole his script for his forthcoming movie Mohenjo Daro. Hon'ble Justice G.S. Patel dismissed an injunction plea against the film's release and imposed exemplary and punitive costs of Rs. 1,50,000 against Lama.

Justice Patel passed a detailed order in which he slammed Lama for approaching various forums and harassing Gowariker as well as UTV and Hrithik Roshan with his false claims and untrue allegations. Justice Patel held that Lama had been unable to make a case and observed how it had become a matter of course in the recent past to approach the Courts close to a film's release to harass filmmakers and producers and blackmail them.

Gowariker, who had remained silent in regards to these allegations during the months leading up to yesterday’s hearing, could not be reached for comment. His spokesperson confirmed the verdict and told “Ashutosh had faith in the legal system and rather than talking about this, he has been engrossed in promoting the film and I’m sure that that is what he will continue to do. Everyone is fully geared up for 12th August and also the Locarno International Film Festival."

Mohenjo Daro will hit the screens on August 12.

Hrithik reminds you of his Agneepath days with his raw intensity in 'Mohenjo Daro'’s trailer!

After the huge success of historical film Jodhaa Akbar, Hrithik Roshan will team up with Ashutosh Gowariker once more for Mohenjo Daro, a movie set in 2016 BC and the trailer of the epic saga was released last night and unnecessary to say, we were simply blown away by it!

Starring Hrithik, Pooja Hegde, Kabir Bedi and Arunoday Singh, Mohenjo Daro revolves around Sarman, an indigo farmer, who lands in the ancient city of Mohenjo Daro for some work and suddenly feels a connection with the place. While over there, Sarman falls for Chaani (Pooja Hegde) and locks horns with Maham (Singh), who wants to rule the city. The trailer is full of exciting action sequences and a tanned and grungy looking Hrithik with his intense eyes, is the icing on the cake. The movie also stars Kabir Bedi, who plays a tyrant ruling the city with an iron fist.

Hrithik will slightly remind you of his Agneepath days with his fiery eyes and his raw intensity and the movie will assuredly prove to be a treat for fans of the light-eyed hunk. The cinematography is eye-catching and will instantly transport you back to another era that you had only read about in school history books. Gowariker, who is known for making larger-than-life period films like Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar, has surely upped the ante with this film.

Mohenjo Daro is all set to hit the screens on August 12 this year.

Meet Chaani the 'Chosen One' aka Pooja Hegde from Mohenjo Daro!

After giving an adrenaline rush to the viewers with their raw and gritty poster featuring Hrithik Roshan like never seen before, the makers of Mohenjo Daro have now revealed their second poster and have introduced the audiences to their leading lady Pooja Hegde in a rather grand way.

The solo poster features Pooja, who is playing the role of Hrithik's love interest Chaani in the movie. Hegde is marking her Bollywood debut with the Ashutosh Gowariker-directed film and with this regal poster the makers have ensured eyeballs for the beauty.

While Pooja looks ethereal and beautiful, it's her costume that makes your jaw drop. She is seen clad in a blue and reddish-maroon gown with a rather majestic headgear made of feathers, beads and flowers sitting pretty on her crown. The dress, which has a jewel encrusted bustier, accentuates her curves as it hugs her at all the right places and she is also seen flaunting her toned leg through the thigh-high slit. The background is the same Sindhu script we saw in the teaser, this time an entire hieroglyphic plate.

While the last poster successfully emphasized on the fact that Hrithik's character Sarman belongs to a modest background, this one sends out the message loud and clear that Chaani is affluent and possibly a woman of stature and calling. The new poster makes quite an impact with its subject as well as its vivid colours, with the bright royal blue dress juxtaposed with the contrasting baked bronze-gold wall, making for a striking image.

This poster brings forth the majestic grandeur of the Indus Valley Civilization, against which the period romance is set. After seeing the first two posters, we can safely say that Mohenjo Daro will be one hell of a visual treat, and now, we are eagerly waiting for the makers to unveil the trailer.

Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker, the movie is all set to release on August 12, this year.
