Riteish Deshmukh Shuts Down Distasteful Question On Salman Khan & Sanjay Dutt At Lock Upp 2 Launch: “Aapke Sawal Ka Jawab Deke Main...”

The much-anticipated reality show Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Season 2 recently had its grand media launch ahead of its upcoming Netflix premiere. While the event unveiled high-profile celebrity contestants like Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi, and Pamela 'Pam' Serena, the real spotlight shifted toward show host Riteish Deshmukh.

Known for his calm demeanour and quick-witted humour, Riteish lost his cool in a rare instance when a reporter asked a provocative and highly insensitive question linking his close friends Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt to the show’s jail theme.

The Question That Irked Riteish Deshmukh

During the media Q&A session, a journalist attempted to capitalize on the reality show’s captive format by bringing up the real-life legal pasts of Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt.

The reporter asked:

"Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt are your closest friends. Both have a lot of experience of lock up. So, would you like to get them in Netflix's Lock Upp? And how would you punish them?"

Riteish Deshmukh’s Sharp Counter-Attack

Visibly irritated by the distasteful nature of the question, Riteish refused to entertain the bait or validate the controversy. Schooling the media personnel on the spot, he responded firmly in Hindi:

"Sabse pehle mujhe nahin lagta hai ki aapke sawal ka jawab deke main usko koi dignity dena chahunga." (First of all, I don't think I would want to give dignity to your question by answering it).

When the journalist pushed further, trying to get a direct answer on whether he would invite them to the show, Riteish clearly draw the line regarding his professional boundaries and the reality of reality TV.

"I’ll not bring them as my duty is to host. And as a host, I don’t know about the inmates that would appear on the show. Jo bhi guests aate hai Lock Upp mein, unse hum baat karte hai," the actor added.

What To Expect From Lock Upp Season 2?

The reality show, backed by Ekta Kapoor, is shifting its base from its original streaming platforms to Netflix, promising a bigger, bolder, and more unfiltered season.

This season introduces a fresh hosting dynamic with Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh stepping in as the entertaining, no-nonsense "jailers". Speaking at the launch event, Monika Shergill (Vice President of Content, Netflix India) expressed great confidence in the duo's chemistry:

"If you have to go to a jail, I don't think you can find more entertaining jailers than Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh! It’s impossible to hide anything from Farah—she always speaks her mind. As for Riteish, he'll make you smile and then nicely take your case!"

Ekta Kapoor also added a humorous touch to the event, joking about her own producer frustrations. "A producer works with so many actors. There comes a point when he or she thinks, 'Inko toh jail mein daalna hi hoga!' This concept came out of that very big wish."

Lock Upp Season 2 Release Date

Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Season 2 is all set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on June 27, 2026. With the show already making headlines for explosive press conferences, fans are eagerly waiting to see how Riteish and Farah handle the fiery line-up of inmates inside the digital jail.
