Ashutosh Gowarikar is done with medieval history, Mughal
India and the British Raj.
The director feels he’s explored those subjects to his
heart’s content in Lagaan, Jodha Akbar, Mohenjo Daro and Panipat, and thinks
it’s time to move on. That said, he isn’t quite done with the past, since his
next project will take us to Ancient India! Yup, Ashu’s putting together a
script about Prince Siddhartha’s journey to becoming Gautama Buddha. The movie
will focus on the events that prompted the Prince’s quest to attain
enlightenment. I wonder who he’ll cast as the legendary royal.
