Arjun Rampal discussed the incident that happened when he was just 24 years old and got married to his ex-wife Mehr Jesia in a recent interview. In a media discussion, the Crakk actor talked about the drawbacks of young marriage and why he doesn't want to repeat his mistake with his girlfriend, Gabriella Demetriades.
Mahikaa and Myra, Arjun and Mehr's two children, were raised together during their partnership, which lasted from 1998 to 2019. Rampal recalled his twenty-four-year-old marriage, “I think it is too early; you're too young, and there's a lot to learn and experience. You have to become mature. Guys mature far slower than women do. It's a proven fact that we are idiots. If you want to be successful in it (marriage), wait it out.”
According to actress Om Shanti Om, it is nothing less than a "miracle" for men to marry their childhood sweethearts and enjoy happy relationships thereafter.
In the same conversation, the 51-year-old discussed his own divorce, saying that although it wasn't easy for anyone, it was particularly difficult on his children. Arjun stated that although the initial feeling of separation may be freeing, it soon turns into something "uneasy and lonely." "You begin to long for your hometown," he said.
Rampal admitted that coming from a broken household, he should have been able to handle this kind of situation. Then he said, “I realized why it went wrong and what were the things, and I take responsibility for it.”
