Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who made her debut with Dum Laga Ke
Haisha opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, is all set to shine in her second movie -
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha along with Akshay Kumar. In the film, Bhumi plays the
character of Jaya, who is Akshay aka Keshav's wife.
The trailer, songs and the promos featuring both Akshay and
Bhumi have enticed the viewers and people can barely wait to watch them on the
big screen.
In an interview with a tabloid, when Bhumi was questioned if
she was nervous romancingAkshay Kumar, she said, "Romancing [Akshay] sir
was like performing any other emotion with him. It’s easy, because he makes
everything very easy. He doesn’t try and intimidate you, as he comes down to
your level as a friend and a peer and he expects you to treat him like that. I
think that works really well."
Quiz her if it was unnerving to work with Kumar and the
actress confesses, "Not at all. Before starting any new film, Akshay sir
makes sure that he makes you very comfortable and it’s not just about me. Even
for the technicians, the director, and the writer, he is at a high pedestal but
he makes sure that he comes down (from the pedestal), and treats you as his
equal. He, in fact, tells you, ‘I am your equal and let’s do this.’ Then, it
only takes you a few seconds to be comfortable with him. There is nothing that
I did differently with Ayushmann (Khurrana; in Dum Laga Ke Haisha) that I
didn’t do with sir as far as them being co-stars is concerned."
She further adds, "First, working with Akshay sir on a
daily basis was like a masterclass. You can learn so much from him as a
newcomer. He is a great example to have around, for his sheer professionalism
and how dedicated he is about his work. The kind of hard-work he puts into his
scenes, even before we started to shoot is exemplary. After our shoot everyday,
the entire team including the writers, the director, Akshay sir and I would go
through our scenes. Additionally, he was never late on sets. It literally
reminded me of a horse who has his blinkers on, as far as his working style is
concerned. His energy was so focused that it’s an inspiration."
