Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor made his debut in 2003 with
Ishq Vishq and instantly became the chocolate boy of Bollywood. The actor was
often compared with Shah Rukh Khan at the initial stage of his career- given
that he did back-to-back romantic movies. But, in an interview lately Shahid
said that he felt it was unfair for me to be compared with a star like Shah
Rukh in the beginning of his career.
Shahid managed to change his image with his top notch acting
in Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey.
Talking about the comparison, Shahid said a famous tabloid,
“The worst thing that can happen to a newcomer is being compared to a big star
or an established actor because it confuses him. It (comparison with SRK) did
trouble me initially as I did not know what to do,”
He further added, “Every actor needs to find himself… It was
not fair to compare Shah Rukh Khan with a newcomer. Having said that, I feel
comfortable with who I am today. I am discovering myself as an actor. I think
today is a good actor is what makes you a star. People now want to see good
content and performance. You also need to have the X-factor."
Shahid also went on to say that according to him his major
USP is that he is willing to experiment and does not fear failures. “I try
different things and people sometimes like it or don’t. Sometimes you do a good
job, but the film is not liked by people. I don’t think too much about it. The
biggest trap for an actor is when he starts doing things from the past. So,
instead of moving forward, you move backward,” he told.
On the film front, Shahid is busy shooting for Sanjay Leela
Bhansali's Padmavati which also stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. The
movie is scheduled for a November 17, 2017, release.
