Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next film on Sahir Ludhianvi has
been grabbing headlines for quite a few months now. The movie, tentatively
titled Gustakhiyan is based on Urdu poet Sahir Ludhianvi and poet-novelist
Amrita Pritam. While the famous lady for the film is Priyanka Chopra, who is
also the co-producer of the movie, the leading man is yet to be finalized.
Actors like Irrfan Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were rumoured to
have been approached to play Sahir Ludhianvi. But, that didn't materialize.
Later, Abhishek Bachchan was being considered for the role. But, that too seems
to be risky.
As per a famous tabloid, Abhishek isn't likely to be a part
of the film. A source informed, "Priyanka wants an actor who hasn’t done a
period film before. Abhishek has done Umrao Jaan (2006) with Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan. Since PC is co-producing the movie with Bhansali, she expressed her
reservations to SLB and they are still on the lookout for someone to play the
character of Sahir."
Fascinatingly, the Sahir Ludhianvi biopic was scheduled to
go on-floors this year and Priyanka even finished her costume trials when she
last visited Mumbai. She was rumoured to begin shooting for this film in
September this year. But now, given that Priyanka has given a nod to her second
Hollywood film - A Kid Like Jake and a rom-com Isn't It Romantic, starring
Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth and Adam DeVine it looks like the actress won't
have a Bollywood film coming out this year.
