Farhan Akhtar doesn’t want to play second fiddle to Akshay Kumar in the Gold?

After giving hits like Baby, Airlift and Rustom, Akshay Kumar will be seen in yet another movie with a patriotic theme, Gold. Directed by Reema Kagti, the sports period movie is set in the backdrop of the 1948 London Olympics and narrates the story of independent India's first gold medal win at the Olympics.

The film is set to be produced by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, marking Akshay’s first association with Farhan. As per to reports, Farhan Akhtar was to essay an important role in the film, but he has turned down the offer as he won't play second fiddle to Akshay Kumar.

A source disclosed to the daily, “Reema Kagti is keen on roping Farhan for a pivotal role, but one that’s of a parallel lead to Akshay. Farhan has apparently turned down the offer, considering his A-list image. The actor is also apprehensive about the project, since he’s played Milkha Singh in his biopic, and doesn’t want to play less important roles. One of the factors could also be that he’s producing the film.”
