After sensational thrillers Hate Story 2 and Hate Story 3, director
Vishal Pandya is back with film Wajah Tum Ho, which claims to be a crime
thriller, but has sufficient ingredients to qualify as an 'erotic thriller'
like his above-mentioned movies.
Wajah Tum Ho is the half-baked sex-thrillers. Which is
unfortunate, because the idea isn’t half bad.
A vigilante kills a corrupt cop and airs the act on live
television after hacking the system of a renowned television channel headed by
Rahul Oberoi (Rajniesh Duggal). When ACP Kabir Deshmukh (Sharman Joshi) starts
investigating the case with the help of a consulting lawyer Ranveer Bajaj
(Gurmeet Choudhary), things get complicated when Oberoi is defended by his
company's legal head Siya (Sana Khan), who is also dating Ranveer.
If that was not sufficient, the vigilante seems to always be
a step ahead of the investigators, a fact which confuses Kabir and his team.
Will Kabir manage to catch the vigilante in time before the body count increases?
As a story point of view, live murders on national TV
followed by a manhunt sounds like an enthralling plot. But minutes into the
film, intrigue gives way to intimate scenes, cringe-worthy dialogue and highly
foreseeable twists.
Rajneish, who modifies his name’s spelling in every movie,
has to realize that the change has to be made somewhere else. Gurmeet exhibits
his abs and not much else and Sharman, the only reliable actor here, goes a
little over-the-top with his expression. Sana, an ex Bigg Boss participant, she
looks pretty with eyes but her performance is not adequate.
In the movie, the first half of the movie seems entertaining
enough and despite the presence of needless songs, Wajah Tum Ho seems like a hot
thriller. But, it is in the second half that the plot has lack of excitement
due to foreseeable twists and turns.
In addition, some of the dialogues are not only
unintentionally funny, but also grammatically inappropriate- in one scene,
Siya, who is supposedly a law graduate from Massachusetts, tries to poke holes
in the prosecution's theory by declaring that her opposing counsel's arguments
are 'logic-less'.
Filmmakers should learn that simply inserting scenes showing
the lead pair making out and women dancing around in short dresses are not
enough to save a movie if the plot does not get a thoughtful treatment.
On the whole, Wajah Tum Ho is an average film with
creditable performance of Sharman Joshi.
