Gifted actress Vidya Balan has been known to take
on challenging and hard hitting roles. She wowed viewers by portraying a
pregnant woman in search of her husband in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani, and
will now essay the role of a victim of domestic abuse in Mohit
Suri's Hamari Adhuri Kahani. The movie features Rajkummar Rao as
her husband and Emraan Hashmi as her lover.
For most actresses, playing a victim of abuse can be
physically and emotionally tiring. But surprisingly, Vidya says that for the
first time, a role did not drain her emotionally. She tells that the credit for
this goes completely to her director Mohit Suri. He would give her both time
and space after she would perform an intense scene, as he understood that it
would take her time to come out of her character. Vidya also opened up about
the criticism she has received in the past for her weight. She tells that she
had a lot of body image issues in the past but has emerged stronger now. Film
