Another social drama for Padman Jodi Akshay Kumar and R Balki?

Superstar Akshay Kumar and filmmaker R Balki united for the first time this year for the social drama PadMan which featured Akshay Kumar in the lead role. As per a news in a daily, Akshay is all set to reunite with R Balki for another project which is titled Mahila Mandal, a social drama again.

A media source revealed, “The film is being called Mahila Mandal. In keeping with its title, it revolves around women. Nonetheless, the role that Akshay plays is of immense significance.” Previously, there were conjectures that the duo were coming together again for a project based on women scientists who worked on India's Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) in 2014. A daily report states that Vidya Balan, Nimrat Kaur among others have been approached for their project who have also given their nod. Numerous other actresses are also been approached.

Akshay Kumar walks hand-in-hand with wife Twinkle Khanna for Padman!

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna make for one of the most romantic couples in the tinsel town. 

Twinkle, the actor turned writer will next be donning a producer's hat for her maiden project Padman, which stars hubby Akshay Kumar in the lead. 

The shooting for Padman had begun a few days ago in Madhya Pradesh. Joining the crew today, Akshay Kumar shared a picture of the husband-wife duo embarking on the new journey together. 

Taking to Twitter, Khiladi Kumar wrote, "Embarking on a new journey, this time with the Mrs. First day of @mrsfunnybones' #Padman directed by R. Balki, need ur love & luck as always."

In the photo, Akshay-Twinkle can be seen walking hand-in-hand with each other, as they begin this new journey- with Tina turning producer for the first time. Well, we are totally in love with the picture!

Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. But, it is not clear when Sonam and Radhika would begin filming for the film.

Padman will be a fictional account of the life of a social entrepreneur, Arunachalam Muruganantham, who took it up to himself to provide low-cost sanitary napkins to women from poor economic strata across rural India. 

The film will be directed by R Balki and is said to be shot in a start-to-finish schedule.

Padman is anticipated to release later this year.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Balki have made three movies together as Cheeni Kum, Paa and Shamitabh. First two were successful, third was not. But, that didn't impact the personal as well as professional relationship between the two men. Instead, it was Amitabh himself who pegged Balki to go ahead and begin his fourth movie pronto.

"I did ponder for a while over Shamitabh. However Amitji along with Jayaji forced me to go ahead and kick-start my next. They told me that there was no point sitting and analyzing about what happened with Shamitabh. My producer Anil Naidu joined them as well. Together, they made sure that I begin to write pronto," discloses Balki.

As the germ of an idea that of a married couple with a role reversal of sorts came in it turned out to be a happy narrative experience for the filmmaker.

"When people complimented me for my work (in Paa - 2009), it took me six years to return with my next (Shamitabh - 2015). Now if I started thinking too much about criticism, it would have taken me 10 years," giggles Balki, "So I just went ahead and put together Ki & Ka. I met Kareena and Arjun and soon we were ready to hit the sets."

In the meantime, he made sure that the Bachchan connection stayed on for his movie, despite the new 'jodi' of the two Kapoors.

Balki further reveals, "I said to Amitji that since he and Jayaji had forced me to write the film, they now had to be a part of Ki & Ka. They feature in a very special appearance. You would see that eventually, they are in the center of the narrative."

Still, considering the fact that the three movies so far revolved completely around Amitabh Bachchan, didn't Balki miss the legend's presence for a large part of Ki & Ka shoot?

"Well, if you ask me about missing him then I miss him all the time. It is not just on the sets but when I am in my car or even at home. However, you adjust to that and move on. That said, I am sure you would love what you see of him in the film," promises Balki.

We would indeed once the movie releases all over on 1st April.

Arjun-Kareena’s airport tête-à-tête is reason behind the casting of Ki And Ka!

Ever since it was declared that Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan will be seen paired opposite each other in R. Balki's movie Ki And Ka, there has been a major news about the unusual casting and Arjun finally spilled the beans on the casting decision.

In an interview, Arjun told that Balki had seen a photograph of Arjun and Kareena walking out of an airport together after an event and he liked the way the two actors looked with each other and so decided to cast them in the movie. Arjun further added that as he and Kareena are good friends, it was easy for them to be comfortable with each other during the shooting of the movie.

Apart from Arjun and Kareena, Ki And Ka also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in cameo appearances.

'Ki And Ka' will spell trouble for married men, says R. Balki!

R. Balki, who lately launched the trailer of his forthcoming movie Ki And Ka starring Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, hinted that the film might spell trouble for married men as their wives will start expecting their hubbies to be like Arjun Kapoor's character Kabir.

Balki joked, ''My wife Gauri Shinde has already started nagging me about why I cannot be like Kabir, though I do cook for her at times.” Balki further added that as Arjun is seen taking care of the house and pampering his wife at home, wives will start taking their husbands to task after watching the movie.

Ki And Ka, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in cameo appearances, is slated to release on April 1.

Abhishek Bachchan just has a passing shot in Shamitabh, says Big B!

A few days back, there had been rumors that Abhishek Bachchan will be seen in a cameo in forthcoming movie Shamitabh, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan, but Big B claims that it is just a passing shot and a cameo in the real sense.

Talking about it, Bachchan told that they were shooting for some scenes at the airport when Abhishek landed from a flight and came in the frame while passing by and Balki determined to capture him in the scene.

Shamitabh is slated to release on February 6.
