While speaking about sexual harassment in the Hindi film industry, actress Kalki Koechlin told that there are women in the film industry who face sexual abuse, but, as they are not popular or successful, people don't pay attention to them.

After Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was exposed by numerous actresses for sexual abuse, a lot of Bollywood celebs are speaking about the same happening in the Hindi film industry.

Speaking to a tabloid, Kalki revealed, "I don't think we provide an environment to our women to speak up about sexual abuse," and added further, "We only listen to people once they are successful or famous. There are a lot of women who are at the struggling stages of their career who talk about these things but no one will listen to their story."

Kalki also stated that people only listen to those who are famous. She further told, "We are harping on the Harvey Weinstein issue which happened in LA while we have our own issues the incidents at High Spirits in Pune, or the TVF incident. You hear about these things for half a day and then it is gone. We need to take responsibility for our own stories. I feel it's about time we start listening to them."

Kalki, who essays the role of a career-oriented girl facing much criticism and bias on workplace due to her pregnancy and later motherhood, tells she researched so much about pregnancy and motherhood that now she is scared of it.

"It is challenging, but you know, I have not been a mother in real life, so obviously the whole thing from pregnancy to childbirth, and then having a baby and raising it, I did a lot of research on it; I found so many details about pregnancy, now I am really terrified of birth... but it is also beautiful," she revealed.

When it comes to her, the vibrant National Award winner prefers to "ignore" internet criticism but takes note of remarks from her loved ones.

"Internet criticism... I don't handle. I ignore it. I don't read it. I don't respond. If I am getting very highly criticised I go off social media for a while. What's important for me is criticism from family and friends... they know that I have certain weaknesses or they recognise... that's a very Kalki thing to do. They know you," she told.

Kalki Koechlin’s admiration for Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut!

Dev D’s actress Kalki Koechlin has never shied away from sharing her personal experiences or speaking about the film industry in public. In an interview with a famous tabloid, Kalki opened up about the struggles she faced before entering the showbiz. 

She told, "Yeah, in the beginning, I had to find jobs because every month's rent was a struggle. I didn't depend on my parents for it. They didn't have the money, and you know that they were hippies. When I was studying in London, I worked part-time as a waitress. I was teaching drama to kids. I did a lot of odd jobs to pay for my studies. I see it as a healthy struggle. I don't believe in becoming famous overnight."

The actor also admitted that how she was stereotyped after every movie she did. She revealed to the tabloid, "I think you're stereotyped after every film. Post Dev D, I was only offered bold roles. Similarly, after Margarita With A Straw, I was offered roles where I had to play differently-abled people. So, no matter what type of film you work in, people tend to slot you. It's up to an actor to consciously break that image and challenge themselves. Choosing different kinds of scripts and creating my own work through theatre is my way of dealing with it. I write because I don't want to be stuck doing the same thing."

When she was questioned that is it true that Bollywood doesn't practice equality, the actor quoted, "Yes, but there are exceptions to the rule. People like Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut are really paving the way for successful women. It's encouraging. Generally, women are paid lesser than their male counterparts."

Gossips of theatre actor Jim Sarbh dating Kalki Koechlin have been doing rounds in the media. As you know, Jim was the one who essayed the role of terrorist Khalil in Sonam Kapoor's Neerja. There were rumors that Kalki and Jim have also moved in together. Well, the newest turn of event will set tongues wagging as the two snubbed each other at a movie's premiere. 

According to a famous daily, a source revealed, “The two ignored each other like the plague at the premiere of A Death in the Gunj at the Mumbai Film Festival. Jim was busy addressing the press, while Kalki was posing for the shutterbugs. However, the two walked away from each other on the red carpet, despite having seen the other.”

May it’s a breakup time for both?

Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin's brief romance took the entire industry by surprise. Anurag met Kalki on the sets of Dev D in 2008 and soon the couple began living together and then tied the knot in 2011. Anurag's 15 year-old daughter Aaliya from his wedding with Aarti Bajaj also attended the wedding along with his industry friends like Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Piyush Mishra.

  

But, the couple's domestic life wasn't as smooth sailing as predictable. We hear that while the two loved each other, fights happened frequently and soon it was evident to them that this wedding could not work. In October 2014, they filed for divorce. Kalki moved out and has been renting a place in Andheri independently. The two have always had kind words to say about each other to the press and still share a warm and cordial relationship.

  

They lately made their way to the Bandra family court together to complete the requisite legal formalities. According to sources, they travelled together and completed their work with minimum controversy. Obviously both Kalki and Anurag are moving on in life to a better place.
