Nowadays, Sanjay Dutt is in the news for a long time, courtesy to his biopic Sanju. In the movie, Ranbir Kapoor had stepped into the shoes of Sanjay Dutt. The movie has shattered a number of box-office records since the day of its release, and is presently the 5th highest grossing movie in India.

The movie has put light on many aspects of Sanjay Dutt's life, including his relationship with his parents, his drug addiction, and also his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blasts and the jail term which followed.

In a media chat to a daily, recalling the events of his life, Sanjay Dutt disclosed, "A gun destroyed my life." He was sentenced under the anti-terror law TADA for his alleged involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts after a gun was discovered from his house days after the blasts. The actor revealed, "I have paid a huge price for keeping a gun at my place." In a statement, Dutt had told to the police that he had kept the gun to protect his family, as they were receiving threats from the people during Mumbai riots after Babri mosque demolition.

The terrorist charges were but abolished later, and the actor was then convicted under the Arms Act for which he served a long-term in the Yerwada jail. "I am not a terrorist, please read the confession. I was sentenced under the Arms Act. But I did not run away. I came back like a man and faced arrest," Dutt told.

Rajkumar Hirani took to Facebook to say thanks to all those who alerted them about the pirated version. Hirani posted, "To all of you, who alerted us about the leaked copy of our film on Facebook. We discovered that some camera copy of our film Sanju was leaked on Facebook. While this was shocking, it was heartening to see that thousands of you refused to watch the film illegally, Instead, you reached out and drew our attention to the problem."

"We could manage to get it deleted with help from Facebook. Have to say that you all are exceptional human beings. You have the empathy to understand the sweat, blood and tears that got into making a movie and you have the strength to awaken the conscience of others by requesting them not to view it. Your love for Cinema motivates us to keep going. My most heartfelt thanks for speaking up. Thank you! Rajkumar Hirani," Rajkumar Hirani added.

Now, film Sanju became the 2nd highest non-holiday opening of all times after Baahubali.

Experienced writer-lyricist Javed Akthar tells the reason why Rajkumar Hirani is able to make cinema that touches the heart is because he is a good human being.

Hirani is presently enjoying the success of his newest film "Sanju", which zoomed past the Rs 120 crore figure in its opening weekend.

Admiring the director, Akhtar revealed, "I am huge admirer of Rajkumar Hirani. He does really good work and now again, he has done an amazing job. I always say one thing about him that to make such kind of films you not only have to be really good director or writer, but you have to be really good human being. He is really good human being and that's what works for him" 

Akhtar talked with the media when he unveiled the Chitragupta Chowk at the corner of14th road and Danda Road (Khar) recently.

The unveiling was in the honour of the late Chitragupta Shrivastava, whose music career spun over four decades from 1946 to 1988. He composed for over 140 movies.

Sanju to surpass Salman starrer Tiger Zinda Hai’s weekend collections?

Sanjay Dutt's biopic titled Sanju shows the debatable life of 'Baba' starting from his debut movie Rocky days. Ranbir Kapoor has already won several compliments for his act as Dutt.

With the opening collection ranging around Rs 34 crores, Sanju collected Rs 45.50 crore nett on its first Sunday taking the first-weekend collection to Rs 117 crore nett. This is without Bahubali - The Conclusion.

Sanju has already beaten Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai which earned a little under 115 crore nett in the first weekend. This is the first time a non-Khan Hindi movie has held the weekend record.

Saturday - 38,25,00,000 apprx.

Ranbir Kapoor's film beat Salman Khan's Race 3's opening weekend collection as well and is already the biggest hit of 2018. Before Sanju, it is Bahubali - the Conclusion which has the highest ever weekend collection record with Rs 127.28 crore nett. The collections of Sanju have come on a non-holiday weekend like Bahubali - The Conclusion. Even Salman Khan's TZH was a non-holiday release.

As per report, the movie also beaten Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor's Padmaavat's record in only three days.

Director Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor has released now. Movie buffs are going gaga over Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation as Sanjay Dutt. The movie is doing great business.

Alia Bhatt caught a special screening of the movie a day before its release. She was clicked with Ranbir Kapoor leaving the theatre after the film’s preview.

At a latest event, when quizzed about the movie, Alia revealed, “I really liked it. It is a fantastic, fabulous and an outstanding film. I think in my top 10 best film list, 'Sanju' is high up there. Ranbir is outstanding in it. Vicky Kaushal and Paresh ji (Rawal) also did a fantastic job. Everyone including Anushka (Sharma) and Sonam (Kapoor) did really good job. It's a full package.”

She further revealed, “I am really big fan of Rajkumar Hirani so whenever his films come out, I cannot wait to see it and every time, he manages to hit out of the park. It is one of the best films that we have right now in the past couple of years.”

During the trailer launch of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, Sanjay Dutt was enquired what he has to say about the response received. As per a daily, Sanjay revealed, "Ranbir (Kapoor) is extraordinary in the film. I think the film is fantastic and Rajuji (Rajkumar Hirani), Vicky Kaushal, and everybody has done a fantastic job. Whatever is the truth, has been shown in the film."

In Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, Dutt essays the role of a gangster. When questioned why he chose to play a gangster, he revealed, "I wouldn’t do a film if there was no comfort level. This is a very emotional character as he can go to any lengths for love. So these are the core values of this gangster in this film and I had a lot of fun doing it."

Bollywood’s leggy lass Karishma Tanna is presently at the peak of her career. She is rumoured to be playing the role of Madhuri Dixit in Sanju, a movie based on the life of megastar Sanjay Dutt. But, Karishma Tanna could neither be seen in the teaser, nor in the trailer of the movie. She has also not participated in any of the promotional events for the movie, unlike her other co-stars. When questioned about her part in the movie, the actor stayed tight-lipped. While speaking to a daily, she just told, "All I can say is that it’s a very important role but I really can’t talk about it."

Avoiding the question about whether she is playing Madhuri Dixit in the flick, Karishma revealed that she would love to play the dhak dhak girl if ever her biopic is made. She told, "Madhuri ma’am is a great star and I would love to do her biopic. It’s magical to see her perform, especially when she dances. I also have the same passion towards dance and I think it would be a dream come true moment for me.”

Rajkumar Hirani disclose the real reason behind Aamir Khan's no for Sanju!

Recently, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani disclosed the actual reason behind megastar Aamir Khan not playing the character of Sunil Dutt in the movie.

Rajkumar Hirani was intermingling with media at the trailer launch of 'Sanju' along with Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza and Vicky Kaushal on Wednesday in Mumbai.

Aamir Khan lately told that he was offered the role of Sunil Dutt in the biopic, but he was more keen to play the lead role, which was already with Ranbir Kapoor. 

Rajkumar Hirani was questioned what his reaction was when Aamir Khan said no, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani revealed, "Aamir is a friend. Whenever I write a script, I just go to him and narrate it to get a reaction from him. So I narrated this script also.  Not with the intention of asking him to play any role. He reacted interestingly to the script and liked it. Then just out of greed, I asked Aamir if he would play Dutt saab's role? He took it seriously and gave it a thought. He said let's meet after a while. So I met him the next week again, then he showed me Dangal and said" 'look I'm already playing an older man's role. And if after Dangal, my next film has me play an older man again, then people will stop giving me a young man's role!' That was a valid argument. Finally, we had Pareshji (Rawal) playing Dutt Saab."

'Sanju' is a biographical film based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, directed and written by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is set to be released on June 29.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor, glimpses of whose depiction as Sanjay Dutt in the trailer of "Sanju" has left the audience asking for more, tells he really wants the senior actor to like him and his work.

Ranbir intermingled with the media here on Wednesday at the trailer launch of "Sanju" with Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza and Vicky Kaushal.

Questioned how he felt depicting various phases of Sanjay's life, Ranbir told, "When I was a child, I had a poster of Sanju sir on the wall of my cupboard, and through this film, I am in his shoes. I think in my life, I really want Sanju sir to like me. I know I never can be the man he is, but in whichever way that I go about in my career as a person and even through this film, I really want Sanju sir to like me because I feel that he is man that I respect a lot and I really look up to him. I hope that he feels that I have represented his life in very honest and improved way."

The movie's trailer gives a quick glance at the several phases and challenges Sanjay has faced in his personal life, in which he has waded through a battle with drugs, multiple relationships and legal troubles.

"Sanju" is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is releasing on June 29.

Paresh Rawal was destined to play Sunil Dutt?

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who turned a year older recently, is all set to play the role of the late Sunil Dutt in the movie "Sanju", a biopic of Sanjay Dutt. He feels he was fated to essay the role.

He tells he had once received a letter on his birthday, and it was penned by Sunil Dutt, father of actor Sanjay Dutt on whose life the Rajkumar Hirani directorial is based.

Paresh told in a statement: "There is a very special connection of Sunil Dutt with me. Back in 2005 on the May 25, I was doing some patchwork in Mumbai for 'Deewane Huye Paagal', I went to a hotel as I landed from the US to make a call to my home when my wife Swaroop said Dutt saab had sent me a letter. I asked 'Whose?' She said, 'Sunil Dutt saab'. I was like, 'Why would he write a letter to me?'. She said, 'For your birthday'. I said my birthday is on May 30, why would he write a letter five days before. Straight cut to January 2, 2017, when I was at the narration of 'Sanju' at Rajkumar Hirani's house, I got a call from Swaroop asking me what to do of the letter of Dutt saab in the drawer... amazing connection. I asked her if the letter was still there? Earlier you would get birthday letters, which you would eventually clear. However, for over 12 years, the letter stayed in my drawer. This is the connection... I think I was destined to play Sunil Dutt."

I am not courageous to give my life out like Sanjay Dutt, says Ranbir Kapoor!

The most anticipated trailer of Sanju is finally out. It is an exciting film as it explores the untold story of Dutt's life. The movie also stars Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal and Jim Sarbh.

During the trailer launch, Ranbir revealed he wouldn't bared his soul out for a biopic just like Sanjay Dutt as it's not easy to let the world know your story. "I am not courageous to give my life out like Sanjay Dutt for a biopic," said Ranbir. He added, "The most challenging part was the young Sanjay Dutt."

Sanju is scheduled to release on June 29, 2018.

Rajkumar Hirani discloses Anushka’s character name in Sanju!

Recently, the trailer of Sanju is out and a trailer launch was held recently in the city, which was attended by Hirani and the cast including Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.

Missing from the launch was Anushka Sharma, who is presently shooting for Aanand L. Rai's Zero with Shah Rukh Khan.

Earlier, the first look of Anushka's character from Sanju had come out in the form of a poster and Rajkumar had posted, "And here is my dear friend Anushka. It’s a special appearance....but she worked on every nuance of the role for days together. Can anyone guess who she plays?....Will reveal tomorrow at the trailer launch."

As vowed, at the trailer launch lately when Hirani was questioned who Anushka was playing, the filmmaker disclosed, "Anushka is playing Abhijat Joshi and my role."

Abhijaat is the co-writer of Sanju with Hirani and was also the writer of Dutt's film Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006).

Sanju is slated to release on June 29, 2018.

Fashion diva Sonam Kapoor has already started promotion for her next movie, Sanju.

Sanju is a biopic based on the colourful and controversial life of Sanjay Dutt which will be depicted on screen by Ranbir Kapoor. Joining the wide-ranging cast will be Sonam, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal and Karishma Tanna. Helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju will assuredly be a roller coaster ride.

At the trailer launch of Sanju, Sonam was spotted by the paparazzi moment before the launch. Sonam, who lately tied the knot with Anand Ahuja, looked gorgeous in a solid grey saree with a pleated mid-length cape which had a wide opening at the back.
