Phoolan Devi’s story captivated audiences when Shekhar
Kapoor brought it to life in 1994’s Bandit Queen.
Now the film’s producer Bobby Bedi will flesh out her story
even more in a 20-episode web series about the dacoit-turned-politician.
Tannishtha Chatterjee will play the lead in the Tigmanshu Dhulia-directed show
that will follow Phoolan’s journey from fleeing home to join a dacoit band as a
teenager to her assassination in 2001. I suspect this will be one of the few Indian
shows that also does well internationally.
