Is Tannishtha Chatterjee new Bandit Queen?

Phoolan Devi’s story captivated audiences when Shekhar Kapoor brought it to life in 1994’s Bandit Queen.

Now the film’s producer Bobby Bedi will flesh out her story even more in a 20-episode web series about the dacoit-turned-politician. Tannishtha Chatterjee will play the lead in the Tigmanshu Dhulia-directed show that will follow Phoolan’s journey from fleeing home to join a dacoit band as a teenager to her assassination in 2001. I suspect this will be one of the few Indian shows that also does well internationally.

I think jokes on colour or body shaming shouldn't be made, Radhika Apte!

After Tannishtha Chatterjee walked out of Comedy Nights Bachao over racist remarks in the name of roast, here we have her Parched co-star Radhika speaking her mind on the controversy.

Talking at an event, the 31-year-old actress told, “I think jokes on colour or body shaming shouldn't be made. It's not funny to crack such jokes. Do you crack a joke on fair skin (people)? No right? So don't do it (joke on dark skin people). There has to be a limit.”

Tannishtha who was on the show for the promotion of her movie was subjected to jokes on dark skin and left the actress fuming. Subsequently, she also posted a post on Facebook and talked about the “blatant racist content” that was showered upon her.

The fiasco also had several Bollywood celebs slamming the show and ended with Colors apologizing to the actress for the comments made.

TV Channel make an apology to Tannishtha Chatterjee for the racist comments!

A day after Parched actress Tannishtha Chatterjee took to her Facebook page to lash out at the makers of a comedy show for poking fun at her dusky skin during the promotions of her movie, the channel submitted an official apology to the actress on Twitter.

The official Twitter handle of the channel posted, ''Dear @TannishthaC It is rather unfortunate that what you had expected to be a fun and novel experience turned out to be traumatic for you on the sets of Comedy Nights Bachao.”

As far as the episode of 'Comedy Night Bachao' is concerned, we have ensured that the content is free from anything that may be deemed offensive. It was never our intention, nor a practice for us or the makers of the show to offend anyone at all with the jokes. We have taken this up seriously with the creative team and the Production House to ensure that the show is produced in line with the vision of the channel.

Please accept our apologies for any hurt that was unwittingly caused.''
