Akshay and Bhumi’s 'Toilet - Ek Prem Katha' is based on PM’s initiative of Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan!

A team which has given a lot of hits like Baby, Rustom and Special 26 in the past, and now they are joining hands together with Toilet - Ek Prem Katha. They have also enjoyed company of a common editor, Shree Narayan Singh. The man has done a good job in each of these three movies and now has been trusted with the responsibility of directing the megastar in Toilet - Ek Prem Katha.

"Yes, Shree has been a making his presence felt in the industry for quite some time now and it was about time that he got a biggie to his name as well. He has earned it and would be making the most of the opportunity," tell an insider close to the movie.

Toilet - Ek Prem Katha is a love story with the backdrop of open defecation menace in India and takes forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative of Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan.

"To ensure that the movie managed to convey it all with dollops of entertainment, writers Siddharth-Garima were roped in. Under Neeraj Pandey's guidance, they spent three years researching for the movie. During this duration, Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan picked up momentum as well. Now they have got the tone, language and the whole authenticity factor absolutely right for the film," our source says about Siddharth-Garima, who have also written Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela.

In the meantime, Akshay Kumar is quite satisfied with the team that has been put together for Toilet - Ek Prem Katha.

"This one is a simple film with no major conflicts, confrontations or 'taam jhaam'. The power of the film's narrative lies in its simplicity and Akshay is happy with the manner in which Shree Narayan Singh and his team has prepared itself for the shoot. It is still early days as the film has just gone on floors but yes, a good start has been made," the insider adds.


The movie is set to release in 2017.
