Box Office Weekly: Badrinath Ki Dulhania is ready to enter in 100-crore club soon!

Hit film Badrinath Ki Dulhania starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt is enjoying a good run at the box office- thanks to the sizzling chemistry between the twosome both onscreen and offscreen.

The film opened to decent reviews last week and the positive word-of-mouth has helped the movie rake in numbers. If the momentum continues, the film which has become the third biggest opener of 2017 after Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Akshay Kumar's Jolly LLB 2 may soon become the highest grossing movie in 2017. 

As per to the Box office India, the movie collected INR 4-4.25 crore nett on its second Friday which is the highest for any movie this year. Jolly LLB 2 had grossed 3.75 crore nett on its second Friday. BKD has done a business of over 76 crore nett in 8 days which is a little below Jolly LLB 2 but the trend is strong, reports Box Office India.

Coming to this week, Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson released along side Govinda's Aa Gaya Hero, Rajkummar Rao's Trapped and Kaira Advani and Mustafa's Machine. But, Beauty And The Beast easily beat all the Hindi releases in the domestic market as the movie alone did a business of over Rs 1.50 crore nett while the three Hindi films combined were at just 1 crore nett approx.

At present, Badrinath ki Dulhania is all set to emerge as the sole winner.

Really enjoyed Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in a Badrinath Ki Dulhania, says Sujoy Ghosh!

Well-known Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh on Monday told that he found actors Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt to be superb in their newest movie "Badrinath Ki Dulhania".

"Really enjoyed Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in a Badrinath Ki Dulhania'. Superb they were. So much fun to watch their banter. Clap Clap," Ghosh posted.

The Shashank Khaitan-directed "Badrinath Ku Dulhania", which is produced by Karan Johar, has opened strongly at the box-office.

In the first two days in the country, the movie minted Rs 27 crore, according to trade analyst.

Although a romantic drama, the movie does throw the spotlight on the dowry system and still present male-controlled society. The movie is the second installment of the 2014 hit film "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania".

When a film fails the lead actor is always blamed for it, says Varun Dhawan!

When Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan came on Koffee With Karan, SRK had told that Bhatt had done too much in her career too soon. 

A famous tabloid asked Alia's Badrinath Ki Dulhania co-star, Varun Dhawan on whether he feels that he needs to slow down too as he has also done a lot in his career in a small span of 5 years. 

Varun told, "It might sound chauvinistic, but the Indian audience views heroes and heroines very differently. When a film fails, the lead actor is always blamed for it. The industry, trade and the audience does this. So, as an actor, it is very important to do roles that you enjoy, but at the same time give the audience what they want. When you talk about big-business films, they reach out to an entire country and there's a reason why those heroes are managing to do that. They are not making films just to please social media, and this is something I have been vocal about because I strongly believe in it. What really works or doesn't is something you learn along the way."

He spoke about his family's tough times and told, "As a kid, I have seen my father struggle and those memories are still buried somewhere in my head. I vividly remember the times when my dad wasn't doing well and my mom telling me that we couldn't afford certain things, so I had to go easy and take a backseat. I have had friends who were really rich and the kind of environment that I grew up in, these kids were brought up slightly differently. I am not an actor's son; I am a director's son. I am not saying this for any sympathy. 

He also spoke positively about his childhood and told, "I had a great childhood, and I am grateful that I got to see both sides of life. So, now, I think I need to do more, as there are so many kinds of films that I want to do."

In the meantime, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is scheduled to release this Friday.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania will be my only film in 2017, reveals Alia Bhatt!

Vivacious actress Alia Bhatt had an eventful 2016, belting out three hits last year - Udta Punjab, Kapoor & Sons and Dear Zindagi. For her standout act in Abhishek Chaubey's movie, Alia is among the top candidates for this year's Best Actress trophy.

In a talk with a famous tabloid, Alia spoke about her movies and much more coming her way this year. 

With a bang on 2016, will Alia Bhatt be under the radar in 2017? "No, I don’t think I will ever go under the radar. I feel, strategically, [not going under the radar] makes sense right now. I had three releases in 2016, and this year, I will hopefully have one more release apart from BKD. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it seems BKD will be my only film in 2017 as of now. It’s a very different and biggish film. What I mean by ‘biggish’ is that it’s a very mainstream film, which I haven’t done for a while now. So I am really looking forward to that," told the actress.

She further included, "Generally speaking, if you don’t have a film release, then one can be under the radar. But besides movies, I have a lot of other plans for 2017 that are not film-related. For instance, I am going to be very active when it comes to social work. I am already working on a campaign for animals."

Alia Bhatt will be also starring opposite Varun Dhawan in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which will be directed by Shashank Khaitan. On her experience of working with Varun again, she told, "It’s a love story, so both of us have to be completely into the project. Although we are exploring many more things in the film (as compared to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), it’s in the same fun, light-hearted space."

A heartbreak song by Alia Bhatt!

Vivacious actress Alia Bhatt is one of the few actresses who has attempted into singing along with acting. Her songs like Samjhawan (unplugged), Ikk Kudi(Club Mix), Love You Zindagi (Club Mix) have won hearts amongst the masses.

Currently, as per a famous tabloid, the 23-year-old actor will be crooning a heartbreak song in her forthcoming movie, Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Seemingly, one version has been already recorded by Arijit Singh and another version will be done by Alia soon.

The director of the movie Shashank Khaitan is keen on having Alia record a song for the movie.

Speaking about it, a source revealed, "The plan is to come up with a song that is a few notches higher than Samjhawan from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. And the lyrics of the song are such that Alia will do justice to it. If she agrees, it will work wonders for the film's album."

Khaitan verified the news and told, "It will take us a month to freeze on our plans. It's a work in progress. We want Alia to sing the track but let's see how it goes."

Varun and Alia is ready to recreate magic of Sanjay-Madhuri's Tamma Tamma!

Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are ready to share the screen space for the third time in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, a sequel to their hit movie Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. In the first movie, they were seen in the soulful song Samjhawan recreated from a Punjabi movie Virsa.

Now as per a famous daily, the twosome will be seen in a new version of Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit's hit song Tamma Tamma from the movie Thanedaar. Speaking about it, the composer of the song Tanishk Baagchi specified, "We have retained the original voices of Bappi Lahiri and Anuradha Paudwal but also added Badshah and a bit of rap. It's a peppy dance track with the music slightly altered to suit current trends."

It will be a treat to see Varun and Alia grooving like Sanjay and Madhuri. Maybe we even get to see Dutt's well-known pelvic thrust and head banging done by Varun. 

  

Badrinath Ki Dulhania is directed by Shashank Khaitan and is slated to release on March 10, 2017.

Alia Bhatt’s night number 1 at her new home in Juhu!

After the success of Dear Zindagi, Alia has just got another reason to rejoice. The 23-year-old actress has moved into her new pad and is naturally super-excited about it.

Alia recently took to Instagram to post a black and white pic of her spending the first night in the new apartment and captioned it as “And finally night number 1 at the new home @shaheenb ( we did it ).”

Alia had bought a three-bedroom apartment in Juhu and has finally moved in with her sister Shaheen recently.

Speaking about her new abode Alia had previously told, “The vibe is that of a New York loft – really cosy and not too modern. The walls are all exposed bricks and the windows are boxy. I’m trying to get a retro Smeg refrigerator and a lot of neon signs for the wall, so it will have a cool vibe.”

Actor Varun Dhawan to bulk up for film 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania'!

Varun Dhawan, who had romanced Alia Bhatt in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, will team up with the Bhatt babe once again for Badrinath Ki Dulhania and we hear that Varun will bulk up for his role in the movie.

A source reveals that as Badrinath Ki Dulhania is set in rural Uttar Pradesh and Varun will be seen playing a rustic character, he will not have a lean physique like he had in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and will beef up for this role by working out and going on a high-carb diet. Apart from the bulky physique, Varun will also be seen talking in a heavy North Indian accent in the movie.

Apart from Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Varun will also be seen in Dishoom, which also stars John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Karan Johar's Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt starrer Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was his homage to Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and post the success of the film, Karan Johar has decided to turn it into a franchise.

The sequel to the movie titled Badrinath Ki Dulhania will also star Alia and Varun and it goes on floors today in Mumbai. Like the original, this movie too will be helmed by Shashank Khaitan.

Sources reveal that it's a fresh story set against the backdrop rural North India. Apparently, Alia and Varun will be seen in totally new avatars in the film. Insiders have disclosed that Shashank had locked the script last year and had been conducting reading workshops with the lead pair since past one month.
