In the time when Central Board of Film Certificate has been
running its scissors more so than ever, it is very rare that a movie is passed
without any cuts. But, in a refreshing news, Sridevi's MOM has been granted a
UA certificate with not a single visual or audio cut, as per a famous tabloid.
A tabloid cited CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani tells,
"Srideviji’s performance in Mom has the same impact as Nargisji in Mother
India. They both define motherhood and the ingrained sacrifices that a mother
makes for a child. I’d go as far as to say Mom is the contemporary Mother India.
There will not be one dry eye in the theatres when the film opens.”
The report further states that the movie which was viewed by
the CBFC’s board members on Friday had the female members in tears. “It is
probably Sridevi’s career’s best performance,” CBFC source told.
The film is directed by Ravi Udyawar and also features
talented artists Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Abhimanyu Singh and Akshaye Khanna among
others.
Sridevi essays the mother of a teenaged daughter in the
film. Speaking about the movie, she told its story "touched and
moved" her.
Sridevi is also a MOM to two young and beautiful girls in
real life as well - Jhanvi and Khushi. The gorgeous diva mentioned that this
helped her relate to her on-screen character better.
"It will be an important film for all mothers and their
teenage daughters," Sridevi had told.
