In the year 2002, Sanjay Leela Bhansali created a lovely film
which is still loved after 12 years of its release. The magnum opus was titled
Devdas and had a star cast of talents including Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit-Nene.
Now, the makers of the movie are planning to re-release it
in a 3D format. SLB confirmed the news to a leading daily by saying, "When
I was finally convinced about the 3D version of Devdas, I wanted to make sure
that every frame conveyed just the right proportions and dimensions. I realised
that much of my film was originally shot with a lot of depth in the frames.
That, in fact, made Devdas an ideal candidate for the 3D format."
A worldwide release is being planned and the sources who are
a part of the marketing said to the tabloid, "The global reach of the
format is very strong, thanks to the Hollywood super-hero films that are mostly
created in 3D. With Devdas, we hope to crack the international 3D market that
Baahubali missed, as it was not made in the format."
Recently, Aishwarya presented Devdas at Cannes 2017. She
spoke at length about it to the daily telling, "It personally gives me a
lot of pleasure to have Devdas viewed because I enjoy watching it till date. I
still get messages from well-wishers, the world over when Devdas is screened on
TV. The first time I came to Cannes, it was for Devdas. It was a special moment
for all three of us — Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and me — and being
driven in a chariot was an amazing feeling. It has never been replicated at
Cannes post that, so it’s special too. To recount the first experience in a
much easier way this time feels great."
