Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa passed away at a
hospital here on Monday night, a day after she suffered a cardiac arrest. She
was 68.
In a report issued here, Apollo Hospitals told: "It is
with indescribable grief, we announce the sad demise of our esteemed Honourable Chief
Minister of Tamil Nadu, Puratchi Thalaivi Amma at 11.30 p.m. today (5.12.2016)."
It is learnt Jayalalithaa's body will be taken to
her residence at Poes Garden first.
Police were deployed in large numbers outside Apollo
Hospitals and also at Poes Garden.
