The Oscars winners of the 88th Academy Awards!

The Oscars is unquestionably the most famous awards ceremony across the world and here's the list of the 88th Academy Awards winners.

Best Film: Spotlight

Spotlight is a 2015 biographical crime drama, which follows The Boston Globe's Spotlight team and its investigation into cases of widespread and systemic child sex abuse in the Boston area by numerous Roman Catholic priests. Directed by Tom McCarthy, the film stars Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci, Brian d'Arcy James, Liev Schreiber, and Billy Crudup.

Best Actor (Male): Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio bagged the coveted Academy Award this year, for his performance in The Revenant. Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, The Revenant is based on Michael Punke's eponymous novel, inspired by the experiences of frontiersman Hugh Glass in 1823.

  

Best Actor (Female): Brie Larson

Brie Larson picked up the trophy for her power-packed performance in emotional thriller, Room. Based on Emma Donoghue's eponymous novel, the film revolves around a woman, who is held captive along with her 5-year-old son, for seven years, in an enclosed space.

  

Best Director: Alejandro González Iñárritu

Alejandro González Iñárritu won the Best Director award for his Leonardo DiCaprio starrer The Revenant.

  

Best Animated Film: Inside Out

Disney's Inside Out took home the Oscar in the Best Animated Feature category. The film is set in the mind of a young girl named Riley Andersen, where five personified emotions—Joy, Fear, Anger, Sadness and Disgust try to lead her through life as her parents move the family from Minnesota to San Francisco.

  

Best Supporting Actor: Mark Rylance

Mark Rylance won the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in Steven Spielberg's cold war thriller Bridge Of Spies. He plays a Soviet spy involved in a dangerous exchange in the movie.

  

Best Actress In A Supporting Role: Alicia Vikander

Alicia Vikander received the award for her terrific performance in Tom Hooper's transgender drama, The Danish Girl.

  

Best Foreign Language Film: Son Of Saul

Laszlo Nemes' Hungarian film Son Of Saul won the Best Foreign Language Film Award this year. It is set in the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II, and follows a day-and-a-half in the life of Saul Ausländer (played by Géza Röhrig), a Hungarian member of the Sonderkommando.

  

Best Original Song: Writing's On The Wall

Jimmy Napes and Sam Smith's chartbuster Writing's On the Wall from 2015 Bond film, Spectre won the Best Original Song Award at Oscars 2016.

Best Documentary Feature: Amy

Asif Kapadia's 2015 British documentary film that depicts the life and death of British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse won in the Best Documentary Feature category.
