Didn’t have inhibitions about gaining weight, was worried about losing it, admits Bhumi Pednekar!

Actress Bhumi Pednekar made her debut in Bollywood with Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). She broke all the stereotypes when the movie focused on the overweight newly-wed Sandhya essayed by Bhumi.

Now, post that, Bhumi is gearing up for the release of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. She has shed the extra kilos and looks fit as ever now. During a communication with a famous daily, the actor disclosed that she was surprised people did not offer her movies on the lines of Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

She specified, "I could be stereotyped. But, the roles that came my way after the film demanded that I get in shape. It was empowering that a society that criticises even a few extra inches had made my [overweight] character into a hero. I was worried that I wouldn’t be accepted as an actor, but here I am."

Bhumi also disclosed that she had no issues in gaining weight for her debut movie. The actor concluded by telling, "I did the film because I was lured by the idea of being an actress. I didn’t have inhibitions about gaining weight. I was worried about losing it, though."

Speaking about the movie, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, the film also stars Akshay Kumar opposite Bhumi. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film is scheduled to release on August 11, 2017.

Talks on toilet are still taboo in India, admits Akshay Kumar!

Actor Akshay Kumar is busy promoting his upcoming movie Toilet Ek Prem Katha which also features Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role.

The movie is said to be loosely based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

During a media communication, Akshay asked the narrow mindset of the people in the country and agreed that toilet is still considered a taboo topic in our country.

"Talks on toilet are still taboo in India. I remember when I had to say a dialogue in the film which is, 'Ab biwi ghar aaye na aye, sundaas to laakar hi chhodunga is gaon mein', people were rethinking if I should say it or not. But as an individual, I think it is necessary... I mean who does not go to the toilet?" Akshay told.

He added, "Our youth is very strong minded. They understand the necessity of using the toilet. Some people are starting to talk about it, which is great... It means awareness has been created. See, it is also about the mindset. In places where I have gone, I heard people saying, 'We don't do it (defecate) in the same house where we cook food'.But how can they openly defecate on the field, from where the food is coming? The government is doing its part (by sanctioning public toilets)... People should also take a step."

Toilet Ek Prem Katha is helmed by Shree Narayan Singh and is scheduled to release on August 11, 2017.

Akshay's Toilet to become tax-free!

Akshay Kumar's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been in news ever since it has been announced. The film is a satirical take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project Swachh Bharat campaign. The movie aims to give you a social message about open defecation.

India alone has an estimated 600 million people defecating openly, according to a study by the United Nations, accounting for more open defecation than any other country in the world. Many studies have also said that it's major issue that India has to deal with and as PM Modi said, by 2019, the state shall be free of the issue and all the villages will have toilets.

As the film is based on this subject, the government has decided to run the film tax-free in all BJP-run states. According to a source in a leading daily, “The Government has decided to implement an entertainment tax exemption in all BJP-run states. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is not merely a film, but also a tool for social reform. And, this film deserves to be seen by all. Therefore, it deserves to be made tax free.”

Just yesterday a report came that 33% of the total 6,05,828 villages have been declared as open defecation free (ODF). The sanitation ministry's letter stated,  "Out of the 2,00,959 villages, 52,593 villages do not have 100% coverage reflecting on the IMIS (Integrated Management Information System)...you are requested to instruct district officials to ensure entries of 100% coverage in ODF villages in IMIS."

Apart from Akshay, the film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and is all set to release on August 11, this year.

"Toilet: Ek Prem Katha" is directed by Shree Narayan Singh. It will seemingly have Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign as its base subject, and has a satirical flavour within a love story.
