Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is a father to two children
from his first marriage - Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
While Sara is gearing up for her big Bollywood debut,
Ibrahim is pursuing his studies. In an interview with a daily, Saif spoke about
how parents should not enforce their dreams on their children, and what he
advises his kids.
Presently, Saif is 'happy' with his daughter Sara entering
into Bollywood. "I remember when I went for Sara's graduation to Columbia
University in New York, USA. They were like, 'My daughter or son should do this
and that.' Parents can be pushy - they can want to live their dreams - after
their own failures - through their children. That's dangerous, I don't like it.
My father never pressured me to play cricket," he told.
Saif further added that he feels the same for his son.
"As long as he (Ibrahim) is happy, he can do whatever he wants. It's good
to have a job and have something to talk about in your life. You can become a
teacher also," he told.
"Sometimes we don't have that quality (life) in Mumbai.
I love the city but we pay a price (to stay here) too. Maybe, you can get a
teaching job in Derhadun, which could be cleaner and nicer. So you can
live however you want to but please think about it and decide. That's my advice
to my kids. You can't blame anybody later. You should know what you want. Try
and figure that out, and then stick to it," told Saif, before signing
off.
