A couple of days back, there were rumors that Aamir Khan,
who had been the brand ambassador of the 'Incredible India' campaign, has been expelled
from the post following his statements on rising intolerance in India.
A day after Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's contract as the
brand ambassador for Incredible India expired, Amitabh Bachchan's name was
finalised to replace him.
Reacting to the decision to terminate his contract, Aamir
Khan said that it was 'an honour and a pleasure' to be the Brand Ambassador for
the Incredible India campaign for the past ten years.
"I was happy to be of service to my country, and will
always be available for it. I would like to clarify that all public service
films I have done till date have all been free of any cost to me," Aamir
said.
Though the Ministry of Tourism disparaged the news and
claimed that their contract with the ad agency responsible for the campaign had
ended, Aamir Khan shared his views on the issue at a media event lately. When
asked to react on the development, Aamir told that it is the right of the
government to decide whether they need a brand ambassador for any campaign, and
if so, who that ambassador should be. Aamir also added that India will always
be incredible, whether he is the brand ambassador or not.
Aamir's statements on rising intolerance in India had
created a major hullabaloo and the actor had drawn flak for it from all
quarters.
