Vidya Balan's original jewellery for Begum Jaan’s role!

Gifted actress Vidya Balan, who will be seen playing the madam of a brothel in Begum Jaan, the Hindi adaptation of National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji's Bengali movie, Rajkahini will be using jewellery from her personal collection in the movie, we hear.

A source told, "Vidya has a massive and impressive jewellery collection which she wants to use in the film. Vidya loves ethnic sarees and jewellery and has over 300 earrings and loads of rings, including some vintage costume jewellery. Since the film is based in the early 19th century, it made complete sense to pick pieces from her personal collection."

Vidya, who was last seen essaying a cop in TE3N, will also be seen in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani 2.

Mahesh Bhatt is adapting Srijit Mukherji's Rajkahini in Hindi, and the remake will also mark the Bengali director's Bollywood debut.

Now I can reveal that Vidya Balan will play the lead in the movie that’s titled Begum Jaan. Vidya will play the madam of a brothel that finds itself divided by the newly chalked out line-of-control in the film that follows the aftereffects of the Partition of Bengal in 1947. The Hindi film will feature eight key actresses and I’ll be sure to tell you their names when I find out who they are!
