The End of an Era? Tom Holland to Take a Hiatus After 'Brand New Day' and 'The Odyssey'

The End of an Era? Tom Holland to Take a Hiatus After 'Brand New Day' and 'The Odyssey'

Taking a Step Back: Tom Holland Plans Acting Break in 2027 to Avoid Burnout

Tom Holland, one of Hollywood's most in-demand young stars, is planning to take a break from acting after a jam-packed 2026. The actor, who is currently filming some of the biggest movies on the horizon, revealed that he intends to take a significant amount of time off in 2027 to prevent burnout. This decision comes after a period of non-stop work and a previous year-long hiatus following a challenging role.

A "Busy" 2026: Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey

Holland's decision to pause his career is a direct result of his incredibly busy schedule. The actor has two major blockbusters set for release in 2026:

Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
Holland will return as the web-slinger in this highly anticipated MCU film, which is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. The movie will mark a new era for his character, Peter Parker, following the events of No Way Home.

The Odyssey: Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, this film is a star-studded epic where Holland will star as Telemachus, the son of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon). The film is scheduled for release on July 17, 2026.

With both films requiring intense production and extensive promotional tours, Holland has made it clear that he is being "mindful about overworking."

The Importance of Setting Boundaries

In an interview with British GQ, Holland spoke candidly about his mental health and the importance of taking breaks. "You can't be in every movie, and you can't do your best work when you're burnt out," he stated. He added that he feels "blessed to be at a point in my career where I can take time off, reset, and come back ready to go."

This isn't the first time Holland has prioritized his well-being over work. He previously took a year-long hiatus from screen acting after his emotionally demanding role in the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room. During that time, he focused on his personal life, his non-alcoholic beer brand Bero, and his charity, The Holland Foundation.

What's Next for Tom Holland?

While his acting career will take a back seat in 2027, Holland has plenty to look forward to. He is rumored to be getting married to his fiancée, Zendaya. He has also previously expressed a desire to have a family, hinting that he might step back from the spotlight entirely when he has children.

For now, fans can look forward to seeing him in two very different, but equally exciting, films in 2026 before he takes his much-deserved break.

Manish Wadhwa talked about his recent two films, Gadar 2 and Pathaan, being on a high, and working with Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan.

Due to the huge success of his most recent two blockbuster movies, Gadar 2 and Pathaan, senior actor Manish Wadhwa is currently having a good time. The talented actor, who played the antagonist in the spy thriller starring Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol, was hailed for his remarkable performances. Wadhwa played Major General Hamid Iqbal in Gadar 2 and General Qadir in Pathaan, respectively.

In a recent interview with a daily, Manish Wadhwa recalled his experiences working with Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol, two of the most well-known actors in Hindi cinema. "Both are superstars. Both are extremely focused, and they know their job. Like a cricket match. If a man scores a century, it doesn’t help in winning a match. You cannot win a match alone. Everybody has to play. So, if the product is good, if your complete package is good, it is definitely going to work," specified the actor.

"Both Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan always make sure that it is a team effort, which is very good quality," said Manish Wadhwa, as he recalled working on the two back-to-back blockbuster movies with the renowned Bollywood superstar.

The well-known actor, who unquestionably garners high recognition for his terrible villain performances in Pathaan and Gadar 2, expressed his deep thanks for the compliments and his current success. I can’t expect studios to give me a budget for my films, says Anushka Sharma on being a female producer!

Anushka Sharma turned into a bold, young producer with NH10 in 2015. Clean Slate Films - Anushka Sharma's production house is run by the actress and her brother, Karnesh. And for the time being, she is busy with the post-production of her next, Phillauri. In an interaction with a famous tabloid, the actress dwelled upon on why she is okay with her movies not making money right away and how she’s dealing with the fact.

So is it easy being a female producer? On being asked this, Anushka told, “I can’t expect studios to give me a budget for my films, which they might give an Aamir Khan.”

And how hard it is to produce content-oriented small budget movies and release them?  "I did NH10 without charging a fee. I couldn’t. I’ll explain it to you. See, if I am a studio and Raju Hirani wants to make a film with Aamir Khan, obviously I will give up my entire life’s savings knowing well that the two of them will come up with something incredible. But when it comes to a newer director, situations are different. Since NH10 did not have commercial elements, for that film to work, I had to produce the film," revealed Anushka Sharma.

Is the situation similar to Diljit Dosanjh starrer Phillauri? Anushka further added, "Phillauri is a more commercial film than NH10. It’s a fun film with comedy and romance. So we definitely have a better budget for the film. But when an actor backs a film like this, the studio feels more confident about it. Today, as an actress, I feel I have that bankability because of the films that I have done, that a studio feels some merit in the films I do and would readily okay a certain budget for it. That’s the reason why they would back a film like Phillauri."

Sonam Kapoor told that women don’t get a certain budget for their movies which probably a male actor does. Owing to this, she and Kareena (Kapoor) have had to slash their prices. "See, I am not going to comment on that because I have absolutely no idea about what Sonam has said. I don’t even know the budgets of each of these films, so it will be a very careless comment if I make it. But only from my point of view, I will talk. Literally, I am making Phillauri with just a big heart. That’s the only way I would have been able to make the film."

Gossip mill is abuzz that Anushka will be next starring in a movie called Kaneda. The actress opens up about the same. "We are going to make an announcement soon. And yes, I will be acting in it!," said Anushka Sharma, before ending the conversation.
