I feel I should call Deepika-Sanjay Sir and tell my opinion to them, reveals Priyanka on Padmavati uproar!

Film Padmavati has been delayed due to controversies and has led to death threats directed towards Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

When Priyanka Chopra was quizzed at an event about the threats on Deepika and Bhansali, she disclosed, "I feel like I should call Deepika and Sanjay sir and tell my opinion to them. And this is exactly what I did. I called them and told I stand by them and hope that audience gets to see the film. The art that Sanjay Leela Bhansali believes in should be viewed by everyone."

While Priyanka is amongst those crop of actors who says it like it is and does not filter her views, there are numerous who do not speak about such issues like the Padmavati row publicly. On this, Priyanka defended them and stressed, "When you use my name as a public figure from Indian film industry and flash my opinion on the ticker, I feel used. By asking this question over and over again you are doing the same. You are asking me a question about another film and filmmaker instead of talking about me and my career."

Deepika Padukone feels something really special for Padmavati!

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone’s movie, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has been submitted again to the CBFC amidst protests against the movie. Deepika has been given police protection as threats of physical harm have been rising.

Deepika revealed to a tabloid about the film and told, “While we are filming, we don’t burden ourselves with the high expectations. I think now the film is complete, we are just excited. We are feeling confident but also keen and eager to show this film to people because we have made it with so much love, passion and enthusiasm. We hope the audience like it and I know they will. We are all getting this feeling of love already before its release. I can feel Padmavati is heading towards being something really special."

Threats to Deepika and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are wrong and unacceptable, says Nana Patekar!

Actor Nana Patekar told threats to actress Deepika Padukone and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali regarding the release of their controversial movie "Padmavati" are "wrong and unacceptable".

"‘Padmavati' has not released yet. You don't know what has been shown in the film. I don't want to get into this, but what I believe is that giving threats to Deepika and Bhansali is wrong and unacceptable," Patekar told at an event here.

"Padmavati", which also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, is mired in controversy over conjectures that it "distorts facts" about Rajput queen Padmavati.

The movie was scheduled for release on December 1, but it has been delayed since it has not got clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

All the controversy over the film Padmavati is based on rumours, reveals Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Parliament!

Regarding the film Padmavati’s controversy, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Thursday appeared before a Parliamentary committee here and maintained that the row over his yet-to-be released film was just based on rumours, strongly rejecting criticism that he had distorted historical facts about the 16th century Rajput queen.

Bhansali was interrogated for over two hours by members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT as he appeared before it in Parliament House with Prasoon Joshi, who heads the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Sources revealed that the filmmaker was questioned why he had screened the film for a few select reporters even before it was cleared by the censor board.

"All the controversy over the film is based on rumours. I have not distorted facts. The film is based on a poem by Malik Muhammad Jayasi," Bhansali told, referring to the 16th century Indian sufi poet's epic poem "Padmavat".

"We don't intend to hurt anyone's sentiments," Bhansali said the 30-member panel headed by BJP MP Anurag Thakur. Among those who attended the meeting included Congress' Raj Babbar and BJP patriarch L.K. Advani.

The director has been given time till December 14 to reply to the panel.

The Parliamentary panel had asked him to attend its meeting to explain his point of view as several states have threatened to block the screening of the film, whose release was scheduled for Friday.

Manushi told this while stating her views on the controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming movie "Padmavati", during a media communication here on Monday.

"All Indian women have one thing in common... we don't feel prosecuted for who we are and actually face our challenges head-on. "We will face a lot of limitations and sometimes we do feel that it is not a very woman-friendly society but as individuals, we should just set an example and make women feel confident that you can do amazing things as well," she further added.

She was also questioned if Bollywood is calling soon, to which she revealed, "I am really excited about travelling next year. We will be visiting four continents, and spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene. Bollywood is just something that is not on my mind as of now so I really can't say anything about it."

Manushi also revealed she loves to read books but would like to work with Aamir Khan, and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra is her favourite actress.

Kapil Sharma's Firangi release on the Padmavati’s day?

Actress Deepika Padukone's Padmavati has lastly been pushed for another day release following nonstop protests, threats and CBFC fiasco. The film was previously slated to release on December 1, 2017.

Now, that the date is free, news suggest that the makers of Kapil Sharma's film Firangi are looking to pushing their release to December 1 so that they can get a free run.

Kapil's movie was actually supposed to hit the theatres this year but now the team is seemingly looking to shift the release. A source revealed a tabloid, "The film has been sent to the CBFC (Central Board Of Film Certification), but it has not been certified yet. The certification might happen today. In that case, the film will stick to its original release date (November 24). But now that Padmavati has moved, the producers are also thinking about taking up the vacant December 1 slot.”

The source further added, “Along with that, Firangi will have two weeks’ run before Fukrey 2 releases. That will boost the film’s collections as there’s no other film to compete with. The film will get a good breathing space.”

If the makers do shift the release date, this will buy Kapil time to promote the movie as many interviews were cancelled following his ill health.

I wish Padmavati is the biggest hit ever as that would be the befitting rejoinder to all these loony threats, tells Twinkle Khanna!

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor has been entangled in numerous controversies regarding the movie’s content. Several Rajput groups have been protesting against the movie as they believe that there is a dream sequence between Queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali had posted a video clarifying that no such sequence has been shot. Even after that, protests haven’t stopped and numerous leaders have threatened physical harm.

Twinkle Khanna who is known for her humorous takes on significant issues, wrote on twitter, “And as far as #Padmavati is concerned I wish it is the biggest hit ever as that would be the befitting rejoinder to all these loony threats!”

Twinkle Khanna’s take is numerous Bollywood celebrities’ opinion too. They have come out to support the movie. Earlier Sonam Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor had voiced their opinion in support of the movie. Lately, Nana Patekar and Vishal Bharadwaj also voiced their support for the film.

Padmavati’s lead actor Shahid Kapoor also spoke out recently on the sidelines of IFFI and told, “It will be a precedent which I am not proud of if the film finds it difficult to release. I believe that the film will release. I believe that this process is difficult and like I said, I went through a similar process with Udta Punjab. I eventually saw the film come out and I eventually saw the film loved and celebrated.”

We are almost like the beauty and the beast in Padmavati, reveals Deepika on Ranveer!

Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are all set to come together on the silver-screen for the third time after Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani in Padmavati. The alleged couple has not been paired opposite each other in the movie.

About working with Ranveer in Padmavati, Deepika revealed in an interview with a tabloid, “It is very weird! Sanjay sir brought the two of us together for two love stories and then he decided to put us in some kind of hate story. We are almost like the beauty and the beast in Padmavati.”

The movie has been willingly delayed by the makers and will not release on 1st December, 2017. About the disputes surrounding the movie, Deepika revealed, “We are extremely proud and confident of the film we have made. When the heart is in the right place, no one can stop a film. While working on the film, as artistes, we were in a different zone. I only spoke up last month after I finished the film and came out of that zone (she reacted to a group of protester in Surat damaging a rangoli inspired by Padmavati). That’s when I wondered for how long are we going to remain silent? For how long would the entertainment industry be made a scapegoat for everything that happens in this country? I believe we are constantly answerable to everyone for some reason or the other. Why attack cinema which is full of love and which brings people together? Why curb people’s freedom of expression? How long can we allow some people to get away with what they have been doing?"

"When you know someone in a certain way, to turn that dynamic on its head is quite challenging. We didn’t meet during the shoot. We didn’t have any idea about what the other person was doing,” she further added.

Ranveer Singh’s GOODBYE to Alauddin Khilji with a special wish!

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati has been in news ever since it has been pronounced. The star cast Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and post the trailer, admirers have been going gaga over his character.

Without a dialogue in the trailer, Ranveer has succeeded to influence all his fans and the audiences. Lately, Ranveer took to Instagram to finally tell GOODBYE to Alauddin Khilji. He posted, "And it's a wrap! Goodbye Alauddin. 1 year and a few weeks later, I bid thee farewell. May your restless soul find its peace... #Khilji."

Talking about his role in Padmavati, Ranveer revealed a tabloid, "It was a very difficult character to play. I am a people pleaser, admittedly. I like to spread cheer and laughter. I like to keep the atmosphere light – even if it means making stupid jokes and acting silly and crass. But, when I became Alauddin Khilji for the movie, there’s no trace of that person. Some actors are that way, where the external starts to affect the internal. At some point during filming, everybody realized that at one point in the morning you’ll have Ranveer and the rest of the day will be Khilji. My whole energy changed. Which is good, because at least I know I’m doing an honest job in the film. But, yeah, I’m almost done now and I have to say what I told myself holds true to some extent. All the darkness has been lived out, it’s been addressed. It’s almost like therapy."

Padmavati is scheduled to release on December 1, 2017.

Deepika opens up on Padmavati’s rangoli protest!

International diva Deepika Padukone is presently gearing up for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. But, it seems that controversies surrounding the movie Padmavati seem to not end at all. During the shoot of the movie, Karni Sena disrupted the shoot in Rajasthan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also attacked by them. In spite of SLB releasing an official statement that the film doesn't bear any sort of a romantic relationship between Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmavati.

While speaking about the movie, the actress told, ‘’It is extremely overwhelming and extremely tiring as well. We have faced many challenges but still, we stand up with the same spirit and keep on going. Nothing can stop us.’’

Lately, an artist named Karan K put up a beautiful rangoli of Deepika Padukone's poster from Padmavati. It took him more than 48 hours to create the artistic rangoli but a group of protesters smashed his hard work in no time.

Recently, Deepika criticized the protestors for destroying an artist's hard work in a series of tweets. She posted, "absolutely heartbreaking to see the recent attack on artist Karan and his artwork! Disgusting and appalling to say the least!" She also revealed, "Who are these people? Who is responsible for their actions? For how long are we going to let this go on?" Deepika Padukone to recall her depression problem due to 'jauhar' scene in Padmavati!

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati is a story of a long forgotten tale about Rani Padmini. It is believed Maharani Padmini performed Jauhar in 1303, the year Alauddin Khilji attacked Chittor. For those who don't aware what 'jauhar' is, it was the act of self-immolation performed by women of mostly Rajput dynasty to save themselves from being taken as a mistress by the victor.

In film Padmavati, Deepika will be seen as Rani Padmini. While Ranveer Singh will be stepping to the shoes of Alauddin Khilji, Shahid Kapoor will be seen as Maharawal Ratan Singh. Now, as per a report in a famous agency, Deepika had been working hard for the role and in the process became a little disturbed.

A source revealed, "It is not easy to play a character who has to commit suicide, or johar, as it is called. And when one is working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he wants one to feel committed and feel the character all the time. Sanjay takes his time to shoot every sequence. The build up to the johar scene and the scene itself was rather elaborate. Deepika has already spoken about clinical depression previously in her career. Hence, she does not want to do anything that will take her back to that space."

Earlier, there were hearsays that even Ranveer Singh had to visit a therapist to get back to ‘normal’. As per a source, “Ranveer has his friends and family worried. To play Alauddin Khilji, he has been researching and exploring extreme negativity. To become Khilji, he took the same route as he did to play Peshwa Bajirao. He locked himself up in his apartment, prepped and stayed in the headspace for weeks. Getting out of this dark, intimidating mindset wasn’t easy for him. The film has also been shot for almost a year now, so sustaining the Khilji persona was very challenging. It affected his reactions and behavior towards people. Which is why, his friends advised him to get help in emerging beyond Khilji. He is going to a psychiatrist to get rid of the Khilji influences.”
