Born on May 22, 1973, in Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh, Nitesh Tiwari's path to filmmaking was unconventional. He graduated from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical and Material Science Engineering. While at IIT Bombay, his passion for creativity, particularly writing, blossomed through campus activities and plays.

After a brief stint in software, Tiwari transitioned into the world of advertising, where he spent 18 years honing his creative skills. He rose through the ranks, eventually becoming the Chief Creative Officer at Leo Burnett, Mumbai. It was his love for writing and storytelling that ultimately propelled him towards a career in feature films.

Nitesh Tiwari's directorial debut came in 2011 with "Chillar Party," which he co-directed. Late Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Chhichhore wins Best Hindi Film Award!


As per media updates, the 67th National Film Awards were announced on Monday, March 22. Director Nitesh Tiwari’s 2019 release Chhichhore, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma and Tahir Raj Bhasin has managed to leave a mark. Finally, the movie has managed to bag the award for Best Hindi film at the prestigious 67th National Film Awards.

For the information, the film marked the Sushant’s first association with Shraddha, Nitesh and the entire cast of the movie and had opened to rave reviews from the viewers and critics. Chhichhore was hyped to be a nostalgic journey of college and hostel days and came with a powerful message of treasuring life and not to give up under any circumstances. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial had won a lot of critical acclaim for his heart-touching storyline, direction and faultless act by the entire team.

Besides Chhicchhore, actors Kangana Ranaut and Manoj Bajpayee also managed to win the top laurels at the 67th National Film Awards this year. Kangana Ranaut has won the National Award for the Best Actress category for the movies Panga and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi while Manoj Bajpayee bagged the Best Actor award for his stint in the movie Bhonsle.
