Nishikant Kamat, who has helmed forthcoming suspense
thriller Drishyam, which is the remake of a popular Tamil film, told that when
it came to casting, Ajay Devgn was the clear choice for the role of the
protagonist Vijay Salgaonkar.
Talking about approaching Devgn for the role, Kamat told,
''When it came to casting, Ajay was the obvious choice for the role because we
wanted an actor in his 40s, who could convincingly play a family man and also,
we needed an actor, who could emote with his eyes and was intense. Ajay fit the
bill perfectly.''
Drishyam, which also stars Tabu, revolves around a family
man and the steps he takes to ensure the safety of his family when a tragedy
strikes. The movie is slated to release on July 31.
