Director Manish Gupta, of Rahasya fame, has approached Vidya
Balan to play former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in her biopic.
Manish has confirmed the reports and has disclosed that
though Vidya has liked the script, she's a bit skeptical to say yes as the movie,
which has been titled Indira, is on Mrs. Gandhi. Though Gupta is yet to take
approval from the Gandhi family, he says that the biopic will be a 'tell-all
tale' about Indira Gandhi — right from her birth to her assassination.
Manish has been quoted telling that he has been in touch
with Sonia Gandhi since the past eight months to get her approval, as every
actor whom he has approached for the film, wants a written permission before
they give their nod of approval.
Gupta tells that he has read nearly 26 books about the
former PM and as expected there will be no singing and dancing in the movie. If
Manish is to be believed, then a very big studio wants to produce the film,
though he has refrained from taking any names.
