Subhash Kapoor, whose forthcoming film Guddu Rangeela has
courted controversy after its song Mata ka e-mail rubbed right-wing outfits the
wrong way, has finally broken his silence on the subject.
Talking about the issue, Kapoor told, ''Guddu Rangeela is
not a religious movie. It's a masala entertainer with a message. There is
nothing in the film that can hurt anybody's religious sentiments. The film is
certified by the Censor Board and I request people to see the film when it
releases and then come to their own conclusions."
For those who do not know this, the makers have been
threatened that if they do not remove the song from the movie, they would risk
facing dire consequences, including disruption at theatres during the screening
of the movie. Lately in Ludhiana, there were demonstrations held demanding a
ban to be put on the film and posters of the movie were set ablaze.
Guddu Rangeela, which stars Arshad Warsi, Amit Sadh, Aditi
Rao Hydari and Ronit Roy, is set to release on July 3.
