SRK starrer Rakesh Sharma biopic titled ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha’!

Bollywood has the past of releasing good biopics that end up motivating the viewers and also become successful. At present, another Biopic on the life of the legendary Indian astronaut, Rakesh Sharma, essayed by Shah Rukh Khan is already on the floors.

As per reports, the movie which was previously rumoured to be called Salute, is now going to be called Saare Jahaan Se Achcha. The movie is being produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur’s new production house, Roy Kapur Films’ that is presently producing Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra Starrer The Sky is Pink. The movie will depict the life of the Indian Astronaut Rakesh Sharma, who was the first Indian to head into outer space. Though no official reason has been sited behind calling the film Saare Jahaan Se Achcha, it is a fact that when Indira Gandhi asked Rakesh Sharma how India looked from outer space on his return, he responded 'Saare Jahan Se Achcha'. Thus, this might be one of the reasons behind naming the movie with this statement made by the astronaut.

Well-known Rakesh Sharma is a former Indian Air Force pilot who flew aboard Soyuz T-11 in 1984 and is the only Indian citizen to travel in space. It's appropriate that a biopic is on the works for one of the most celebrated Indian astronauts of our times.

Firstly, the film titled Salute was offered to Aamir Khan, who even agreed to be a part of the biopic. But, due to certain differences, Aamir backed out of the project.

Aamir did bring good buddy Shah Rukh Khan to the picture and it will indeed be SRK, who will depict the role of Rakesh Sharma in Salute.

Latest reports suggested that Shah Rukh too was backing out of the project but as per a daily, the actor has already locked his dates for Salute.

A source disclosed to a daily, "Shah Rukh will begin prep for the film in September and will shoot for two months straight until November-end. He will resume shooting in January. The film is expected to release in 2019 and the makers are presently finalising the leading lady."

Film Salute is being directed by ad filmmaker Mahesh Mathai and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur. Salute is slated to release in 2019.

Superstar Aamir Khan is on a roll as the star is already essaying the role of a wrestler Mahavir Phogat in Dangal and now he is all set to step into the shoes of Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to go into space in 1984. 

A source revealed a famous tabloid, “Aamir has already shot for a special character in his manager Advait Chauhan’s Secret Superstar. Right after Dangal, he starts work on YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan with Amitabh Bachchan that releases on Diwali 2018. And he’s already signed the Rakesh Sharma biopic which will roll on right after he completes Thugs."

Fascinatingly, the makers have also zeroed down to an apt title. The source also added, “Since it’s a biopic on the astronaut’s life, the team wanted a name that will not only suit the biographical film but also have a patriotic feeling attached. They had two names in mind — Salute and Saare Jahan Se Acha and they are going ahead with the latter. It makes more sense.”
