Film Half Girlfriend’s music is pleasant and tuneful!

Film Half Girlfriend’s music album could well be one of the biggest musicals ever that Arjun Kapoor is featuring in. Yes, Shraddha Kapoor still has Aashiqui 2 to her name, considering her association with director Mohit Suri in the past as well. But now that she is the leading character in Half Girlfriend along with Arjun Kapoor, one assumes yet another hit album that would enthrall the viewers.

Director: Mohit Suri
Cast: Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Vikrant Massey, Rhea Chakraborty

1. Song Baarish

The album begins with song Baarish. It is a track that one would like to sing to his or her loved one on a rainy evening. Lyrics by Arafat Mehmood & Tanishk Bagchi are just the kind that would make one's heart melt away and this actually turns out to be good team work, considering the effort that Ash King and Shashaa Tirupati put together behind the mike. It is a melodious one.

2. Song Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga

The next song is Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga. Mithoon and Manoj Muntashir are the designers of this song as the composer and the lyricist and they do not upset as Arijit Singh comes on board for the first version along with Shashaa Tirupati. While Arijit proves once more that he is the master of the genre when it comes to songs like these, Shashaa is a surprise as she gives a good account of herself despite being a newbie in the world of playback singing.

3. Song Pal Bhar

The next one is Arijit’s Pal Bhar, which is 'Chaahunga Reprise', you do give a nod of approval as slowly and gradually the sound of 'Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga' begins to settle down. This is the reason why once 'Half Girlfriend Love Theme' comes up towards the end, it acts as a good instrumental version to keep echoing in your mind long after you are through listening to the whole album.

4. Song Thodi Der

In the next song, newcomer Farhan Saeed coming up with Thodi Der. Written by Kumaar, this one with Farhan and Shreya Ghoshal as the singers, is a good continuation of 'Baarish' and 'Phir Bhi Main Tumko Chahunga', and in the process brings on a trilogy of romantic numbers in Half Girlfriend. It is remarkable to see how Mohit Suri has guaranteed consistent sound from his musical crew.

5. Song Stay A Little Longer

The next song is an English version as Stay A Little Longer by lyricist-singer Anushka Shahaney, though one waits to see how it is integrated in the movie. Ishita Moitra Udhwani contributes with additional lyrics and it is understandable that a couple of English numbers would feature in the film as well due to its language divide theme.

6. Song Lost Without You

The next song is with Anushka Shahaney who pitches in as a singer-lyricist for 'Lost Without You' where she has composer-singer Ami Mishra for company. The team, with Kunaal Vermaa chipping in as well as a lyricist, comes up with a decent situational track.

7. Song Tu Hi Hai

In the next one, newcomer lyricist Laado Suwalka contributes with Sufi lyrics while composer-singer Rahul Mishra gives his soft rock touch to song 'Tu Hi Hai'. Sounding a bit like 'Sun Raha Hai Na Tu' [Aashiqui 2] in the opening portions, the song comes on its own soon after, what with the Sufi turn making it sound like an Emraan Hashmi number from five years ago. A good number, this one should good on screen.

8. Song Mere Dil Mein

The album ends with song Mere Dil Mein. A sung composed by Rishi Rich, it is sung by his regular partner Veronica Mehta, who has Yash Narvekar for company this time around. While they also play the role of the lyricists for this fun track, they are also supported by R. Rekhi, Yash Anand and Ishita Moitra Udhwani on the lyrics. A cool and happening number that should catch fancy amongst the campus crowds.

In general, the music of Half Girlfriend is good and melodious. It actually delivers a little more than what one had expected from it.

The songs Mere Dil Mein, Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga and Baarish are enjoyable and melodious numbers.

Music Review: Film Meri Pyaari Bindu’s music is tuneful and melodious!

The YRF’s banner is famous for the memorable and melodious music for their films. After a while though quantity of movies coming from the premium production house continued steady but the quality of music became unpredictable. There was an amalgam of some excellent, good and plain-average music that started hitting the stands. Though last year they did have a biggie in Vishal-Shekhar's score for Sultan, one keenly awaited what Sachin-Jigar (along with lyricist Kausar Munir) had to offer for their latest offering, Meri Pyaari Bindu.

Release Date:12 May 2017
Genre: Comedy
Banner:Yash Raj Films
Producer: Maneesh Sharma
Director: Akshay Roy
Cast: Parineeti Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana
Music by: Sachin–Jigar
Lyrics: Kausar Munir, Priya Saraiya, Rana Mazumder
Singers: Nakash Aziz, Jonita Gandhi, Arijit Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Clinton Cerejo, Dominique Cerejo, Monali Thakur, Jigar Saraiya, Sanah Moidutty, Sonu Nigam

1. Song Ye Jawaani Teri

The album begins with song Ye Jawaani Teri. Appreciatively, the music turns out to be quite appealing right from the beginning, what with Nakash Aziz and Jonita Gandhi sung Ye Jawaani Teri making a point at the very onset. Set in a retro mood with some YRF style fusion coming into play as well, the song shows a different side of both Nakash and Jonita who shine in their rendition. Good credit to the whole musical team for making 'Ye Jawaani Teri'.

2. Song Haareya

The next song is Arijit Singh’s Haareya. The love song is just the kind that would make hearts melt and it is composed in such a heart-warming way that you immediately remember the one you love. Priya Saraiya's lyrics are as filmy as it gets and with a very real picturisation on Ayushmann Khurrana with a different style of choreography coming into picture.

3. Song Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin

The next song Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin is in the voice of debutant singer Parineeti Chopra. Sachin-Jigar score a hat-trick in Meri Pyaari Bindu with each song turning out to be better than the one heard before. Well, she makes a striking impression and how as there is no false note in the entire duration that the song plays. This song is tuneful and worthy to listen.

4. Song Iss Tarah

The next one is Sachin-Jigar’s Iss Tarah, you are reminded of the opening notes of Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re (Saheb). As for the singing part, it is wonderful to see both Clinton Cerejo and Dominique Cerejo bringing up the tempo for 'Iss Tarah' that maintains a good pace throughout and finds it’s well deserved place in the album.

5. Khol De Baahein

The album ends with the Bengali-Hindi track Khol De Baahein which has a beautiful sound of guitar accompanying throughout its three minute duration. The singer chosen for the part is truly apt too as Monali Thakur is the one to come behind the mike. She does complete justice to the lyrics that have been put together by Kausar Munir and Rana Mazumder.

Film Meri Pyaari Bindu is a commendable soundtrack and is the best to arrive since the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

The songs Mere Dil Mein, Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga and Baarish are enjoyable and tuneful numbers.

Film Noor Music Review: Melodious and pleasant album with songs Uff Yeh Noor and Gulabi 2.0!

When a film’s music album has the name Amaal Mallik attached to it, you do anticipate certain class in the soundtracks. His songs in Badrinath Ki Dulhania are already doing well and now that he is answerable for all four songs in Noor (with Manoj Muntashir and Kumaar chipping in as the lyricists), you anticipate the composer to keep Noor on a high as well.

1. Uff Yeh Noor

The soundtrack begins with Uff Yeh Noor. A song that could well have got you into the mood of some rock-n-roll had it been posturized on a leading lady, this one has actually put together for a montage sequence featuring Sonakshi Sinha. A feel good breezy number with some decent lyrics by Manoj Muntashir that narrate a day in life of the main protagonist.

2. Gulabi 2.0

The next song is Gulabi 2.0 which is the recreated version of Gulabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi from R.D. Burman and Anand Bakshi's The Train. Luckily though, this one isn't one of those lazy redone versions that trust entirely on a yesteryear song that has been popular for decades. Instead, it just picks the hook-line of Gulabi Aankhen and indeed lives up to its title of Gulabi 2.0 as it is taken to the next level by Kumaar, what with a cool club sound that is given ample support by Amaal Mallik, Tulsi Kumar & Yash Narvekar. It is a tuneful number.

3.  Jise Kehte Pyaar Hai

In the next one, Sukriti Kakar, who had gone all forceful and passionate with the title track Rustom Vahi [Rustom], gets into the lovey-dovey zone for Jise Kehte Pyaar Hai. A romantic song written by Kumaar that could well be the call of first love, this one has a smooth flow to it and stays harmless right through its duration.

4. Hai Zaroori

In the next, Prakriti Kakar gets her big break with Hai Zaroori. She goes solo for this pathos-filled song that is written well by Manoj Muntashir. A song which narrates the story of a broken heart, this one maintains a decent pace right through its proceeding without turning into a sob fest.

Overall, the music of Noor is appealing and melodious with four songs with one (Gulabi 2.0) finding a repeat version. Moreover, an overall pleasant nature of the soundtrack guarantees that in the film too, the songs are likely to integrate well.

The songs Uff Yeh Noor, Gulabi 2.0 are pleasant and tuneful numbers.

RunningShaadi.Com Music Review: It is a situational soundtrack with a few peppy numbers.

Running Shaadi.com’s music album has a vast group of composers (Abhishek-Akshay, Anupam Roy, Keegan Pinto, Anjana Ankur Singh, Sandeep Madhavan) making an appearance, turns out to be. A style that started with Dibakar Banerjee's Khosla Ka Ghosla and was carried forward by Aanand L. Rai movies like Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Werds Manu Returns is picked up by Running Shaadi.com.

1. Song Dimpi De Naal Bhaage Bunty

The album begins with song Dimpi De Naal Bhaage Bunty which is one of the many songs that Late Labh Janjua had sung during last 4-5 years. A festivity track with a fast paced appeal to it, this one gets the feet tapping right at the word go. For those who love their music to have strong Punjabi elements to it, this situational number with likely to go higher fits the bill.

2. Song Mannerless Majnu

The very next song Mannerless Majnu is rendered by Sukanya Purkayastha in a manner that could well have done justice to Kangana Ranaut. If you liked the music that was offered in Tanu Weds Manu series then you won't mind giving this one a hearing as well. It is strictly situational in appeal.

3. Song Pyaar Ka Test

The next one is Bappi Lahiri’s Pyaar Ka Test. There is a distinctive blend of 'desi disco' that is attempted and while Bappi Lahiri is having a lot of fun, one wonders if audiences would be able to say the same. It is a celebration outing with Gandi Baat girl Kalpana Patowary.

4. Song Bhaag Milky Bhaag

The next song is Bhaag Milky Bhaag which sounds like a background score for a documentary outing. Pretty much lifeless in the way it is composed, written and sung, this one is such a sluggish outing that even with the presence of Sanam Puri and Sonu Kakkar.

5. Songs Faraar, Kuch To Hai and Main Faraar Sa

The next song is Faraar which has Jubin Nautiyal going solo. The singer has been doing quite well of late and has been singing for numerous big movies. This was the song that he did at the time when he just started out and he does really make it exciting enough to be heard a couple of times more. He also sings 'Kuch To Hai' which is pretty much in the same mould. Though the song is a decent hear till it lasts, there isn't anything about it that you really remember. Ditto for 'Main Faraar Sa' by Anupam Roy and Hamsika Iyer which sounds similar again.

Film Running Shaadi.com has a situational soundtrack that doesn't have much recall value despite more than half a dozen songs.

The songs Dimpi De Naal Bhaage Bunty and Faraar are melodious and peppy numbers.

Jolly LLB 2’s music is really enjoyable with songs likely to blend in well with the story.

The soundtrack of Jolly LLB 2's duration is just 15 minute with only four songs in there. That makes it an average of less than four minutes per song and could well be one of the shortest ever albums of an Akshay Kumar movie. As a matter of fact his last release Rustom was spread over 35 minutes with as many as 10 tracks in there (many of which were reprise/different versions though). However, coming back to Jolly LLB 2, a couple of songs from the movie have already been disclosed.

1. Song Go Pagal

The album begins with song Go Pagal. Put together by Manj Musik, this one has Nindy Kaur giving worthy company to Raftaar behind the mike. Together, they bring in a lot of 'raftaar' to this fast paced song which doesn't have a single dull moment, keeps the feet tapping right and is just right for a festive outing.

2. Song Bawara Mann

The next song Bawara Mann is a romantic number. Though one waits to see whether Chirrantan Bhatt composed and Junaid Wasi written Bawara Mann will reach there as well or not, one has to acknowledge the fact that as singers, Jubin Nautiyal and Neeti Mohan really do well behind the mike. Now if only the overall styling and presentation of the song had been a slight well, 'Bawara Mann' could have been all the more pleasant.

3. Song Jolly Good Fellow

The next one is Jolly Good Fellow. Over the years one has heard this much famous tune in numerous outing, particularly in Hollywood movies. Now the traditional celebration tune is adapted by Meet Bros for this title track where they also step in as singers. Written by Shabbir Ahmed, this one has the coming together of 'desi' fun in a 'videshi' tune that blends in rather flawlessly. While Purnima Solanki and Sanchiti Sakat provide support as the female vocalists, Shabbir Ahmed and Earl Edgar chip in with Hindi and English rap portions.

4. Song O Re Rangreza

The next one is a Sufi number O Re Rangreza. Now Jolly LLB 2 is no different as Vishal Khurana is trusted with the job of putting together a 'qawalli' O Re Rangreza. Though this one has Sukhwinder Singh leading the show from the front with Murtuza Mustafa & Qadir Mustafa chipping in, somehow the song hardly comes across as situational. Junaid Wasi's lyrics are in line with the proceedings on screen and one can expect them to take the story forward.

The Music of Jolly LLB 2 is really entertaining with songs likely to blend in well with the story. The songs Go Pagal, Jolly Good Fellow and Bawara Mann are harmonious and energetic numbers.

Film OK Jaanu Music is lively and soulful by the dream Jodi of Rahman and Gulzar.

Earlier, A.R. Rahman and Gulzar had come together to create music for Jab Tak Hai Jaan in 2012. Now that the pair is back with OK Jaanu, one anticipates something magical from the combo. Since the movie is a remake of Mani Ratnam's OK Kanmani, there are further high anticipations. For this Shaad Ali remake, Rahman retains around half the tunes from the Tamil film and then also creates a few new ones to satisfy to the taste of India level viewers.

1. First song title track OK Jaanu:

The album begins with music composer A.R. Rahman’s title track OK Jaanu which has Srinidhi Venkatesh as his singing partner. A lively track, it boasts of some good companionship between Rahman and Srinidhi behind the mike that ensures that you do tap your feet as the song plays on. In fact what is further remarkable is the fact that Srinidhi is sound engineer at Rahman's studio and here she excels as a singer too.

2. Song Arijit Singh’s Enna Sona

The next number is music composer Arijit Singh’s Enna Sona. The very title instantaneously reminds one of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Kinna Sona Tenu Rabb Ne Banaya. But, the song is altogether different as Arijit croons to a new tune by Rahman who maintains the ethnicity of Punjabi flavor.

3. Song Jee Lein

The next song is Jee Lein with Rahman composition. The composer gives this one an avant-garde treatment and it is amazing to see how he along with Gulzar bring in so many variations to this piece. The manner in which Savithri R Prithvi, Arjun Chandy and Neeti Mohan come together for this feel-good track is admirable.

4. Song Kaara Fankaara

The next song is Kaara Fankaara. It has a trippy feel to it and Rahman makes it as different and unconventional as a movie setting permits. He had first created this composition for OK Kanmani and with Gulzar, he comes up with an equally influential Hindi version with Paroma Das Gupta, Shashaa Tirupati, Hard Kaur, ADK, Kaly and Ashima Mahajan leading the charge.

5. Songs 'Saajan Aayo Re' and 'Sunn Bhavara'

The very next songs are 'raga' based 'Saajan Aayo Re' and 'Sunn Bhavara'. Former has Rahman's protégée Jonita Gandhi leading the show. While she expectedly gives a good account of herself, one is almost astonished to see Nakash Aziz, the man behind a couple of massy hits, sharing stage with her. While both of them justify their inclusion, it is also interesting to see how youngster Shashaa Tirupati takes it upon her to lead the show for 'Sunn Bhavara'. She shows her flexibility after 'Kaara Fankaara' and makes her presence felt.

6. Song Maula Wa Sallim

The next song is Maula Wa Sallim with A.R. Rahman's son A.R. Ameen. A.R. Ameen had crooned an Arabic devotional track Maula Wa Sallim in OK Kanmani and it is good to see the track been retained for OK Jaanu now. The song is the kind that deserves to be played in absolute silence since there is certain purity around it which has to be experienced.

7. Song Humma

The album ends with the Humma Song. Earlier Sonali Bendre had gyrated to the tune of Humma Humma (Bombay) even as Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala had their own game on in the background. Well, Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor have all the action for the camera in 2017 even as Tanishk Bagchi, Jubin Nautiyal and Shashaa Tirupati (with her third song in the album) get into the groove with Badshah chipping in with his rap portions.

In general, OK Jaanu’s music is graceful with good mass appeals. Rahman and Gulzar come together as a combo for this Karan Johar production and deliver a winner soundtrack. The songs Enna Sona, Ok Jaanu, The Humma Song and Maula Wa Sallim are tuneful and lively numbers.

Film Dangal Music Review: Its soundtrack is situational with rustic and comic falvour!

Film Name: Dangal
Release Date : 23 December 2016
Banner : Disney India Studio, Aamir Khan Productions
Producer : Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Siddharth Roy Kapur
Director : Nitesh Tiwari
Cast : Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Sakshi Tanwar, Suhani Bhatnagar, Zaira Wasim, Aparshakti Khurrana, Ritvik Sahore, Girish Kulkarni
Music Director : Pritam Chakraborty
Lyricist : Amitabh Bhattacharya

After the smash hit soundtrack of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Pritam as the composer and Amitabh Bhattacharya as the lyricist, now both music genius are coming together for a totally different stage and setting in the form of Dangal. This is where the creativity factor comes in as the team showcases its expertise over the music and words all over again.

1. Haanikaarak Bapu:

The album starts with song Haanikaarak Bapu. Music world’s new talent Sarwar Khan and Sartaz Khan Barna comes together to sing this song. The song was released almost a month ago and has gained distinction over the weeks gone by. It is as rustic as it gets and what sets it apart from the rest are the kind of lyrics that Amitabh has penned for it. It is a hit song.

2. Dhaakad

The next song is Dhaakad which is sung first by Raftaar and later by Aamir Khan. A Haryanvi rap track which has its bearings in the kind of numbers that Baadshah has sung over the last couple of years, this one establishes its uniqueness. The music is subtle instead of going over the top.

3. Gilehriyaan

The next song is Gilehriyaan which is rendered by Jonita Gandhi. The song has a sweet sounding quality to it and you can't help but hum it along while it plays. While the flavor of almost the whole soundtrack of Dangal carries a Haryanvi flavor to it, this one has a non-film appeal to it and carries a jingle feel.

4. Dangal by Daler Mehndi

The very next song is the title track Dangal by Daler Mehndi and one ends up wondering why this wasn't placed right at the beginning of the album. This one makes a very good impression in the very first listening and that is also because portions from it have already been heard as a part of the film's promo. A theme song that lends a lot of weight to the film. It has an anthem track!

5. Naina

The next one is Arijit Singh’s Naina, a song that could well have made its entry in any other film as well since it doesn't seem to be specifically designed for Dangal. A pathos filled song that has Arijit excelling as a singer all over again, this one is straight out of the territory of Pritam and benefits further from Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics.

6. Idiot Banna

The album concludes with a situational track, Idiot Banna. Crooned by Jyoti Nooran and Sultana Nooran, it would be pretty much picked by those who liked the kind of music that Tanu Weds Manu Returns had to offer. This one should look good on screen, considering the kind of fun lyrics that have been put together by Amitabh.

Full Dangal Music Album:

In general, the soundtrack of Dangal is mainly situational with some comic elements. The songs Haanikaarak Bapu, Dangal, Naina, Gilehriyaan are tuneful and situational numbers.

Film Bajrangi Bhaijaan - Music Review

Film Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s songs are an assorted bag with some soulful tunes and massy compositions.

Release Date: 16 July 2015
Banner: Eros International, Salman Khan Films
Producer: Salman Khan, Rockline Venkatesh
Director: Kabir Khan
Cast: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Harshaali Malhotra
Music Director: Pritam Chakraborty

The successful actor-director pair of Ek Tha Tiger – Megastar Salman Khan and Director Kabir Khan, join hands once more for a cross-border emotional drama, suitably titled Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Co-starring Kareena Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, this movie is anticipated to be a celebration of life. Obviously, expectations are quite high on the musical front for two understandable reasons. Primarily, it is a Kabir Khan movie and the director has proven time and again that he has a great ear for music. And furthermore, it is a Salman Khan movie and that basically means, a commercial and a massy score is a given. And when composer Pritam is added to the team, it only adds to the already huge anticipations from the film and its music. With Mayur Puri, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Kausar Munir, Shabbir Ahmed and Nilesh Mishra joining the party as lyricists, it ensures that the team does not let the listener down and comes with melodious combinations.

The album begins with Selfie Le Le Re which is an essentially a clever strategy to woo the selfie-crazy youth population. Mayur Puri’s lyrics combine with the selfie word makes composition a foot-tapping number. Also, the singers (Vishal Dadlani,Nakash Aziz, Pritam Chakraborty, Url, Aditya Pushkarna) have such fun behind the mike that the liveliness and the positive vibe is contagious and that makes it hard for one to ignore this number. Selfie Le Le Re will surely have its share of fans!

The next one is Tu Chahiye, a soothing romantic ballad which is light and easy on the ears. Though Aslam's voice sounds a little too fresh for Salman Khan, it is still likeable generally because Pritam has managed to provide a groovy feel to this soft number with the help of some foot-tapping beats and an energetic arrangement, thus earning this song quite a few repeat hearing!

The very next is a Qawalli offering from the composer and singer Adnan Sami is the chosen man for this semi-devotional number. Bhar Do Joli Mere has a astonishingly average tune and therefore is not really an outstanding. Though Kausar Munir's lyrics are deep, the singing is not up to the mark with Sami coming across as trying too hard.

The next lively party song is Aaj Ki Party which has been sung enthusiastically by Mika Singh. Pritam keeps the basic tune simple but it is the dhol and tabla beats combined with the background whistling which give this track a fun and peppy feel. Shabbir Ahmed's lyrics suit the mood of the song and Mika is in top form behind the mike. But this track again does not really have a long-lasting quality.

The next Chicken Song is fun number. The composition is nothing to write about and even Mohit Chauhan seems a little out of place singing this children’s number. Mayur Puri's lyrics are irrational but suit the mood and nature of the song.

The last one Zindagi is a fitting finish to this album with Jubin Nautiyal's vocals managing to pull at your heartstrings. The composition has a slow pace but a lovely tune which is touching and striking. Pritam keeps the arrangement simple and lets the melody do the talking. Nilesh Mishra's lyrics are emotional and touching and makes Zindagi a valuable listen.

Overall, the music of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is an assorted bag with some soulful tunes and massy compositions. While a Selfie Le Le Re and an Aaj Ki Party will keep the Salman fans content, the melody lovers will find Tu Chahiye and Zindagi satisfying. Composer Pritam seems to have struck a fine balance to please a wide variety of music listeners and the results are quite pleasing.

The songs Tu Chahiye and Zindagi are melodious and praiseworthy to listen.

Film Baahubali's Music Review

Film Baahubali’s songs Mamta Se Bhari and Khoya Hain are tuneful and commendable to listen.

Release Date: 10 July 2015
Producer: Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni
Director: S.S.Rajamouli
Cast: Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishna
Genre: Action, Drama, Period

Gifted Telugu Film Maker S.S. Rajamouli endeavors into Bollywood once more with his newest masterpiece Baahubali starring Telugu superstars Prabhas and Rana Daggubati along with Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia. This 250 Crore ambitious period movie has been presented by Dharma Productions in Hindi and has already created buzz all over courtesy its production values and it’s amazing special effects. Veteran composer M.M. Kreem is the chosen one for the music department. With Manoj Muntashir in charge of the written word, one waits to see the magic that will be wielded by this gifted yet underutilized veteran composer.

The first song Mamta Se Bhari sets the tone for this album with Bombay Jayshri’s well-expressed vocals proving to be the perfect foil for this magnificent number and with its strings and drums arrangement is sure to melodious for the listeners. The soft notes of the opening lines lay the perfect foundation for this striking track which when the orchestration kicks in transforms into a wonderful number of epic proportions! A superb start to the album really!

The next one is Swapn Sunehere which is an angst-ridden short melody sung by Bombay Jayshri and Shwetha Raj. In spite of its minimalistic instrumentation, Swapn Sunehere has maximum impact thanks to the poignant vocals of its lead singers as well as the optimum use of violins by composer Kreem. This one is short but touching!

The song Khoya Hain which is instantaneously appealing. Sung by Neeti Mohan and Kaala Bhairava, the opening notes of this track remind one of San Sanana from Asoka. But from thereon, the composition takes a totally different trajectory altogether with the chorus specifically standing out. From mystical to the majestic, this track has it all - the arrangement, though semi-modern, is outstanding and not to mention, the excellent singing by the lead singers.

The next one is Kaun Hai voh which starts off with some brilliant drum beats followed by some poignant chants. The semi-devotional track in praise of Lord Shiva has been sung quite well by Kailash Kher but one does feel a different singer like Hariharan or Shankar Mahadevan could have done more justice to this track, since it is high on traditional music. The background vocals by Mounima is superb and so is the arrangement. M M Kreem proves yet again that he is indeed a master in his terrain!

The next Song Panchhi Boley is a romantic track and has been sung by the composer himself along with Palak Muchhal. The arrangement with the violins and other string instruments is enjoyable and nice but it is not exactly mind-blowing though the sweet voice of Palak Muchhal sure adds to the likeability factor.

M M Kreem’s next song Manohari is a rhythmic number sung by Neeti Mohan and Divya Kumar. The composition is light and fun and the energetic singing by the lead singers is the major highlight of this appealing number.

The album ends with Jal Rahin Hain is a battle cry number and is the kind of song that one expects in a period movie such as this. From the blow of trumpets to the conch shells to the various string instruments in the orchestra, the arrangement has it all and the effect is just amazing.

Overall, the soundtrack of Baahubali is splendid and magnificent. Composer M M Kreem has gone all out to create a soundtrack fitting for an epic movie such as this and has indeed done justice to Director S S Rajamouli’s vision.

The songs Mamta Se Bhari and Khoya Hain are melodious and praiseworthy to listen.

ABCD - Any Body Can Dance 2’s songs are good mix of assorted genres with the common theme of dance binding them.

ABCD - Any Body Can Dance 2’s songs are good mix of assorted genres with the common theme of dance binding them.

Release Date : 19 June 2015
Banner : UTV Motion Pictures
Producer : Siddharth Roy Kapur
Director : Remo D'Souza
Cast : Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Lauren Gottlieb, Prabhudheva, Raghav Juyal, Punit Pathak,Dharmesh Yelande
Lyricist : Mayur Puri

After the success of his 2013 dance based film, Anybody Can Dance (ABCD), Choreographer turned Director Remo D'Souza has come up with its sequel appropriately titled ABCD 2 which stars Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. The original had a wonderful soundtrack with some of the songs like Bezubaan being popular even today and also proved to be a major turning point for Composers Sachin-Jigar. There is also a general inquisitiveness as to how the sequel’s soundtrack will fare when compared with its predecessor. Not to mention that this being a dance based movie, one expects some foot tapping numbers which should get the listener grooving! With Mayur Puri once again in charge of the lyrics, one expects this super hit team to deliver yet again.

The album begins with Bezubaan Phir. The composers give the listeners Bezubaan Phir Se which is as good, if not a shade better than the original! And the man who makes it possible is composer-singer Vishal Dadlani who raps and sings so self-confidently that one is immediately hypnotized. Taking over from Priya Panchal and Mohit Chauhan, Dadlani along with Anushka Manchanda and Madhav Krishna goes all out to make this dance number unforgettable.

The next one is Sun Saathiya that has been sung by Priya Saraiya and Divya Kumar. The video has already attracted attention for Shraddha Kapoor’s eye-catching dance moves, but what makes it even more special is Priya Saraiya’s emotional rendition. Hardly do we see Divya Kumar playing second fiddle to his female counterpart, but here in Sun Saathiya, the singer lets Priya take the lead and is content to support her from the sides. Saraiya makes full use of the opportunity and lets her honey soaked vocals do the talking and the end result is just superb!

The next Chunar is another lovely song from Sachin-Jigar and the ever trustworthy Arijit is the chosen man for this job. Arijit brings out the pain and longing in Mayur Puri’s lyrics beautifully and Sachin-Jigar provide the flawless platform with their arrangement which is largely Hindustani with just the occasional hint of Western flavor. A gorgeous track which is sure to touch your heart, Chunar is a winner for sure!

The next is Happy Birthday which has been sung by the composers themselves along with D. Soldierz (who has also written the lyrics) with an intro from Varun Dhawan. The lyrics are crazy but do not really matter given the genre of the track. The tune though is quite lively and foot tapping and it is accurately for that reason that this track will be one of the most sought after ones in parties and discos.

The song If You Hold My Hand reminds one of the several boy band tracks which usually have the teenagers and youngsters swooning over but does not have any impact otherwise. Benny Dayal’s singing though salvages this romantic pop track to some extent but that’s about it. It is average song.

The next song Hey Ganaraya is Shambhu Sutaya revamped but is more classical oriented especially towards the end where there is a lot of frenzied beats. Divya Kumar is pitch flawless with his rendition and the composers have yet again shown that they can make a devotional song interesting.

The song Happy Hour is quite average in this album. Mika Singh puts his drawling vocals to work again but the composition despite incorporating eclectic sounds just fails to impress.

The next is Naach Meri Jaan. The fast paced music provides lot of scope for some lively and pulverizing dance moves but as a stand-alone track, the tune is strictly average. The singers (Benny Dayal, Shefali Alvares, Siddharth Basrur, Rimi Nique and Shalmali Kholgade) do their best with their energetic rendition but are unfortunately led down by a run-of-the-mill composition.

The song Tattoo has fun and danceable beats and is well sung by Shefali Alvares. It is a fun and light number and its attractive tune will make it a party hit during the film’s run in theatres.

The last track in this album is the slightly nationalistic Vande Mataram. The composition sounds to be the one for the final dance sequence in the movie and should have a better impact on-screen. But as a stand-alone track, this one is not exactly an easy listen due to the cocktail of heavy duty dance beats and the overdose of patriotism which unfortunately fails to move the listener.

Overall, the soundtrack of ABCD 2 is a good mix of assorted genres with the common theme of dance binding them. Composers Sachin-Jigar’s effort is quite praiseworthy. The songs Bezubaan Phir Se, Sun Saathiya, Chunar and Happy Birthday are melodious and worthy to listen.

Hamari Adhuri Kahani’s soundtrack is yet another instance of Quality winning over Quantity.

Again Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan come together onscreen for the third time in Mohit Suri directed Hamari Adhuri Kahani which incidentally is supposed to be based on the true life love story of Director Mahesh Bhatt’s parents. It goes without telling that there is quite a bit of hopes from the music of this movie since one expects nothing but the best from Vishesh Films, particularly in the music department. Director Mohit Suri has always showed a great musical sense, one can expect a musical bonanza in the offing! Musical credits have been shared between Composers Jeet Ganguly and Mithoon and Ami Mishra whereas the lyrics have been provided Rashmi Virag, Sayeed Quadri and Kunal Vermaa. Astonishingly enough, the album is a very short one with only four tracks in it and coming from Vishesh Films, it surely looks to be an exception.

The album begins with title song Hamari Adhuri Kahani opens the album and by the way comes in two versions in the album. The first version is sung by Golden Boy Arijit and he does not let us down as usual. Arijit’s vocals manage to convey the poignancy in Rashmi Virag’s lyrics strikingly and one cannot help but feel for the emotional trauma of the lead characters in the movie. Jeet’s composition is first rate and the fact that the arrangement (piano, flute and the violin), in itself, speaks to the listener is the Composer’s biggest success apart from the excellent crescendo of course! Composer Jeet manages to spring another surprise on you, this time around with his vocals, in the second version of the track. Though this track might not be on par with the composer-singer’s other previous super hit musical collaborations, this is a song which apart from being a stunning composition, blends in with the film impeccably.

In the next song Mithoon comes in with Humnava, a soothing melody which takes its time to grow on the listener. He chooses Papon for vocalizing this track which proves to be a masterstroke indeed since this slow yet appealing track, needed a singer of Papon’s caliber to lift it to a different level altogether. Sayeed Quadri’s verses fit in well with the mood and setting of the track and Papon does total justice to both the lyrics and the music.

In the next song, composer Ami Mishra makes a decent debut in Hindi films with Hasi Ban Gaye which also comes in two versions in the soundtrack. The first version has been rendered by Mishra himself and the composer-singer does a suitable job behind the mike though the nasal twang is a slight put-off. The composition is a pleasing melody and is quite appealing. Kunaal Vermaa’s lyrics are simple and sweet yet touching and heart-warming. The second version is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and the lady brings it on herself to lift this tune to greater heights with her lilting vocals. And she does that brilliantly with the result that despite the shortcomings of the male version, the female version wins you over and makes this track yet another winner from this album.

The last track Yeh Kaisi Jagah sees composer Jeet Ganguly trying a little bit of fusion with a largely western arrangement interspersed with semi-classical male background vocals with pleasing results. As has been the norm in this album, the singer is again the USP of this track with Deepali Sathe bringing in the much needed freshness to this somber melody and also, lest we forget, the uncredited male background vocalist who also makes an impression with his expertise over the classical bit.

Overall, the soundtrack of Hamari Adhuri Kahani is yet another instance of Quality winning over Quantity. Though the album does put you in a thoughtful mood with all the songs being quite high on the emotional measure, it still is an album which surely deserves a place on chartbuster. The songs like Hamari Adhuri Kahaani and Hasi Ban Gaye are tuneful and melodious.
