Alia Bhatt says, Gangubai gave her confidence to speak!

Bollywood well-known face Alia Bhatt is one of the most versatile actresses in the film industry.  As per media update, her movie Gangubai Kathiawadi is amidst campaigns for the prestigious Oscars and BAFTAs awards. Alia essayed the titular role in Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Alia Bhatt has been admired by one and all for her brilliant performance as Gangubai in the film. Now, in a latest media chat, she opened up about the qualities and characteristics of Gangubai that she retained, and revealed all the positive things that she learned from her character.

In a media chat, Alia Bhatt was questioned about qualities and aspects of Gangubai that stayed back with her. Alia revealed that while she comes from a protected background, and the Kamathipura set was the first time she had walked the streets of that area. She disclosed that while she didn’t go there physically, her process of discovering Gangubai happened through her conversations with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and through his lens.

“The positive things that I learned from her, which is actually very, very similar to my personality is that she never let that childlike innocence go, even though she was fighting this big bad world, and being a part of this big bad world, so to speak. Her innocence and her vulnerability was intact, despite having to play this very strong role for these women,” revealed Alia. She further revealed that it also gave her a lot of guts to speak in a big room, something she had been nervous to do since she began working at a young age.

“I’m constantly told how young I am and it’s always been that way since I started working. So very often, I would just feel a little nervous to speak my mind or say anything, because I was so young, you just feel like you don’t really have a place in the room. That’s something that it gave me - a lot of confidence to speak and to go with my gut and to say what I need to say. That’s one thing that I felt very strongly from this character,” revealed Alia.

 

Alia Bhatt reveals about her first reaction when SLB narrated Gangubai Kathiawadi!

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt will be seen essaying the titular role in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Gangubai Kathiawadi and the trailer has indeed left us wanting for more. Fascinatingly, while the team is busy promoting the movie, Alia Bhatt has now disclosed her first reaction when Bhansali had narrated her the script.

During a media chat, the Dear Zindagi actress revealed that she had self-doubt when Gangubai Kathiawadi came her way. Speaking about the first reaction, the actress specified that it was fear and she wasn’t expecting such a film. “I was scared. I was meant to do a love story with sir [Inshallah starring Salman Khan was called off]. Till that point, I hadn’t read the book [Mafia Queens of Mumbai] or known the story of Gangubai. I didn’t expect a film of this nature at all. So, when I heard the narration, I asked sir everything I feared: Do you think I can do this? Don’t you think I am a little young? He said, ‘I will make you do it.’ It was then I told myself that there should be no scope of doubt in my head when a film like this comes my way. I had self-doubt. So, I put in all the extra effort I could. But in this case, doubt was the key to knowledge, which made me explore the extremes of what I can do with this part,” Alia was quoted telling.

Also, the Sadak 2 star called Gangubai Kathiawadi an opportunity of a lifetime. “Ek mauka tha, maine dil khol ke perform kiya. I have lived in Gangu’s world for two years. Even after we were done shooting, I would land up at sir’s office to watch the film’s visuals. I have never been this consumed by a character. SLB is the director I wanted to work with since I was nine,” she further added. Film Gangubai Kathiawadi is scheduled to release on February 25.

Finally, the makers of Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi have officially announced that the upcoming biographical movie will release theatrically on February 25, 2022. While making the announcement the makers revealed, “Witness her reign in cinemas near you on 25th February 2022 #GangubaiKathiawadi.”

After her New Year celebrations with Ranbir Kapoor and Ayan Mukerji, Alia returned to the city, and is back on the sets of Gangubai. In the movie, Alia Bhatt will be seen in a never seen avatar before, and as we all know, the movie is based on prostitution therefore, for the same, Alia has to learn cuss words and of course, change her body language, and her way of talking.

As per media source, Alia Bhatt will be learning cuss words in Hindi and Marathi that she hasn’t heard before. As per a report, Alia was in a cultural shock to hear the way her character speaks and for the movie, Alia will have to enter a world that she never would have thought of entering.

SLB has confirmed he’ll direct the actress in a film about the lady was forced into prostitution at a young age but went on to become one of the most influential madams around with a clientele that included the most notorious gangsters of newly Independent India. The film has pencilled in a September 11 2020 release, so mark the date in your calendars.
