Gangubai Kathiawadi gets UA certificate!

As we all know that Alia Bhatt’s bold avatar in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi is being loved by all and it is somewhat very different from what Alia has ever done on the silver screen. The major issue that all filmmakers face is about the certification and cuts from the CBFC.

As per media updates, even this Sanjay Leela Bhansali had to undergo some minor cuts but has been awarded UA certificate. Gangubai Kathiawadi that is all set to release on February 25, has been awarded a UA certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) but with some minor cuts. Reportedly, after the total changes made in the film, the duration has only been reduced by a minute or two. A scene that features India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, embedding a rose on Gangubai, has been modified. Lately, this Alia Bhatt starrer was also screened at the Berlin Film Festival 2022 and loved by all.

The film is a biographical crime drama based on Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai and will also star Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, Shantanu Maheshwari, Jim Sarbh, Varun Kapoor and Indira Tiwari.

Alia Bhatt is gearing up for her next release in real life avatar of Ganga Harjivandas aka Gangubai.

Sharing a brand-new poster of her forthcoming movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt wrote pronounced that the trailer will be out on 4 February! "Aa Rahi Hai Gangu Trailer out on 4th February #GangubaiKathiawadi in cinemas on 25th February, 2022," wrote Alia.

Recently, Katrina Kaif was snapped outside Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office and now, we understand the connection between Katrina’s visit to the Bhansali office. Also, reports suggest that the song featuring Katrina Kaif will be shot in a fortnights time in the city.

And while the admirers are thrilled about this much anticipated film, Alia Bhatt seems to have begun preparing for this Bhansali directorial. In fact, she was also spotted outside Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office this morning. In the photos, Alia spotted in her denim jacket and navy blue coloured track pants. The diva was also seen holding a booklet, which might be the script of Gangubai Kathiawadi, along with a blue water bottle.

By this point it is common knowledge that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has cast Alia Bhatt as Gangubai Kathiawadi in a period biopic about the madam.

Now a little birdie tells me he also plans to give his niece Sharmin Segal a plum role in the movie. The star kid’s acting career didn’t get off to the greatest start despite her debut film Malaal generating positive reviews from both critics and audiences, so now mamaji is trying a different track by casting her alongside a certified A-lister. I’m sure Sharmin appreciates all his help!

Sometimes rumours turn out to be true. Like the one about Sanjay Leela Bhansali using the dates Alia Bhatt had blocked for Inshallah for a biopic about Gangubai Kathiawadi!

SLB has confirmed he’ll direct the actress in a film about the lady was forced into prostitution at a young age but went on to become one of the most influential madams around with a clientele that included the most notorious gangsters of newly Independent India. The film has pencilled in a September 11 2020 release, so mark the date in your calendars.
