“I mean Ranveer is amazing. He’s great for the part…”, says Farhan Akhtar on New Don Ranveer Singh!

Farhan Akhtar has officially announced the production of Don 3. Ranveer Singh will play the lead in the 2025-starting production.

The much-anticipated Don 3 and the new main character were officially revealed by Farhan Akhtar on Monday. By revealing Ranveer Singh's debut as the new Don, he caused havoc on the internet. The crowd loved the actor's mannerisms and flair and thought he would be perfect for the part. However, because he would be replacing Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Don, some internet critics expressed doubt over his casting. Since these criticisms have been addressed, Farhan has added further details about the filming schedule.

Ranveer's selection as the new Don was recently discussed by the filmmaker in an interview with a media source. He talked about how Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan had a similar experience when SRK took on Senior Bachchan's Don role, and how the actor had admitted to feeling nervous about playing either of their parts. Farhan disclosed, “I’m just really looking forward to get it going. I mean Ranveer is amazing. He’s great for the part. He’s also as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous, about the thing you’re filling some big shoes before you. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh did it and everyone was like ‘Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?.’ That whole thing happened then.”

Chatting how Ranveer would be ideal for the part, Farhan further disclosed, “It really is about an actor coming in and owning the part and making it really like, giving it their style and their flair. And he has that, he has that in spades. So, he’s going to do a great job. I think the responsibility is more mine now to make sure that the script and the film works out the way I imagine.” Farhan was also asked what qualities made for a good Don to which he replied, “self-confidence, flamboyance and the ability to do anything that your mind is set on.”

The filmmaker provided more details about the shooting schedule for the movie and stated that it would start in January 2025.

SRK to choose Don 3 over Rakesh Sharma biopic ‘Saare Jaahan Se Accha’?

After the failure of Anand L Rai's Zero at the box office, Shah Rukh Khan has been reconsidering his choices. According a report in an entertainment portals, Shah Rukh Khan has made a hard pass at the Rakesh Sharma biopic Saare Jaahan se Accha. In fact, news state that he may have chosen Don 3 over the mighty biopic. As per reports, SRK had Saare Jaahan se Accha lined up after Zero and was even going to begin shooting in the next month or so.

But, SRK has backed out of the movie finally and the makers are now thinking of casting someone else in the lead. The Don franchise directed by Farhan Akhtar may be the reason behind this. During the Gully Boy trailer launch, Farhan Akhtar had disclosed that he would be making a big statement soon. Conjectures are widespread that this 'big announcement' will be about Don 3 and SRK, who has been part of the earlier movies, will naturally be a part of this one as well.

Now SRK to chase Don 3 after Zero?

SRK is hectic with the shoot of Aanand L. Rai’s next, Zero with Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. This hit trio will unite again in Zero film.

SRK has been offered numerous scripts including the Rakesh Sharma biopic that Aamir Khan opted out of. But, news suggest that Shah Rukh Khan has finalized his next movie and it will be Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. The script of the movie is being finished so that it is ready by the time Shah Rukh wraps up the shoot of Zero.

“Don has been a successful film. Don 2 turned out to be a hit as well, thus ensuring that the franchise can hold good. So, it is not just the makers - producer Ritesh Sidhwani and director Farhan Akhtar who are keen to take the film ahead. Shah Rukh Khan too has a sure-shot hit when he works in that film. There are already a lot of fans wanting to see the third part, which makes it a much-awaited project,” a source revealed a tabloid.

Ritesh Sidhwani opens up about Don 3 with SRK!

Film Don 2 accomplished six years on December 23 and producer Ritesh Sidhwani has revealed that the work on the third instalment is very much going on. The third instalment will feature Shah Rukh Khan, but, conjectures around the leading lady are still rife.

Talking about it, Ritesh revealed a media source, “It will happen sooner than you know as we have started working on the script and the story. I think we need to crack the story as the responsibility is more (to get it right for the third part). With the next film in 'Don' franchise we won't take that much time, we will make it fast.”

The official pronouncement for the movie will be made next year, tells Ritesh.

If rumors are anything to go by, Deepika Padukone might replace Priyanka in the film. Speaking about it, Sidhwani revealed, “... We have not decided what we are going to do with it. Right now the film is in idea stage, it needs to come out in the form of story and screenplay. So it is too early to say anything.”

"Last year, had you asked me about it (making 'Don 3') I would have said, we are not thinking about it. But right now we are seriously thinking about it and have started working towards it," the producer further added.

But, it is still not clear as to who will direct the third instalment.

A ray of hope for Don 3!
