Birthday Blast: Mohanlal to Celebrate 66th Birthday with Global Release of Drishyam 3!
The Georgekutty saga is ready to take over the big screen in
a way fans have never experienced before. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal
and director Jeethu Joseph have officially sent waves through the
industry by announcing a strategic double-release plan for the iconic Drishyam
franchise in 2026.
Drishyam 2: Finally Heading to Its True Home
In a move that has delighted purists, Drishyam 2 is
set for its first-ever theatrical release on April 10, 2026. Originally
released directly on OTT in 2021 due to the pandemic, the sequel was a massive
digital hit but left fans longing for the "big screen" experience.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mohanlal shared: “Drishyam
2 returns to where it truly belongs. In theatres from April 10th, 2026.”
This all-India theatrical run serves as the perfect refresher for audiences
before the story reaches its ultimate conclusion.
Drishyam 3: The Grand Finale on a Special Date
The anticipation for Drishyam 3 has reached fever
pitch following the confirmation of its worldwide release on May 21, 2026.
The date is doubly significant as it coincides with Mohanlal’s 66th birthday,
turning the premiere into a global celebration for the actor's fans.
While the film was initially rumored for an earlier April
slot, the shift to May was reportedly made to ensure a synchronized global
release across key overseas markets like the UAE and USA. The tagline for the
third installment, "The past never stays silent... it only waits,"
suggests that Georgekutty’s secrets might finally catch up with him in this
final chapter.
What to Expect from the Conclusion?
Director Jeethu Joseph has hinted that Drishyam 3
will be more emotionally driven than the previous tactical "mind
games," focusing on the long-term psychological impact on the family. The
core cast, including Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil, will reprise their
roles to bring closure to one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated thriller
franchises.
