Now, it's the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) taking over
the Oscars, as numerous actors from the franchise have been officially been pronounced
as new members of The Academy. The 842 new members that have joined the Academy
are more inclusive and representative, according to a news agency. As per
statistics, the female membership has risen to 32% while people of colour
constitute 16% of the Academy membership now.
Amongst the members who have been designated are Avengers:
Endgame stars Tom Holland, Letitia Wright and Winston Duke. Captain Marvel's
Gemma Chan has also been selected along with musicians Lady Gaga and Adele.
Other members included The Crown star Claire Foy, Rocketman star Jaime Bell,
The Handmaid's Tale star Elisabeth Moss, Next of Kin star Archi Panjabi and
Brockmire star Amanda Peet. Celebs have been selected from 59 countries across
the world and it's been expected that the Oscars Academy now comprises of 10,000
voting members.
