Yami's turning point came in 2012 with her Bollywood debut in the quirky comedy-drama Vicky Donor. The film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, was a critical and commercial success, propelling Yami into the spotlight. Her portrayal of a woman navigating societal pressures surrounding sperm donation earned her the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.

Shifting Gears and Exploring Genres

Yami has never been one to shy away from challenging roles. She has experimented with diverse genres, showcasing her range as an actor. From the romantic comedy Sanam Re (2016) to the action thriller Sarkar 3 (2017), she has delivered memorable performances. Her portrayal of a headstrong woman fighting for justice in Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018) earned her critical acclaim.

I have faced loads of ups and downs, says Yami Gautam Dhar on her career progress!


Well-known beautiful actress Yami Gautam Dhar is one of the most gifted actors in the Indian film industry. She acted in Bollywood movies like Vicky Donor (2012), Kaabil (2017), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), and Bala (2019). All these movies were super-hits at the box office and are liked by people across generations to date.

Recently, Yami’s film ‘Lost’ was premiered at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on 24th November 2022.

Just before the movie ‘Lost’ was about to be screened, Yami took to Twitter and wrote, “What a perfect platform for Lost to kickstart its journey! Thank you #IFFIGoa for such a warm reception and a fantastic response to Lost!”

Remarkably, the film ‘Lost’ got an Asian Premier at IFFI Goa, 2022. “#Lost sets @iffigoa on fire. Received an extraordinary response at its Asian premiere,” the actor tweeted.

Speaking on this development, she revealed, “My journey is still on...I have faced loads of ups and downs but it's all worth it in the end."

She further added, "Right after my debut film, in fact, right after the success of the film I did feel lost...I did not know which way to go. I was not able to connect to the opportunities I was receiving at that time...'Do I stay without work or do I take these opportunities and still try,' all these thoughts used to linger in my mind...it took me a while to understand my own self and how to channelize my voice. I had to rediscover myself to understand what's my purpose of coming all the way here and leaving my hometown.”

On the film front, Yami will be seen next in ‘OMG 2 – Oh My God! 2’. This forthcoming movie is being directed by Amit Rai.
