Ishqbaaz’s Nakuul Mehta recalls Mahi-Shivaay face-off moments!

Rejoicing its one year anniversary last week was Star Plus’ famous show Ishqbaaz. In the course of just one year, Nakuul Mehta and Surbhi Chandna as Shivaay Singh Oberoi and Anika (Shivika) have given fans some engaging cinematic moments.  From their ‘khidkitod romance’ to their ‘nok-jhoks’ or what they refer to as ‘tadi,’ we bet Shivika has already given us some couple goals to meet.

But, on the occasion of the show completing its one year anniversary, we questioned Nakuul what has been his favorite or unforgettable moment shooting for Ishqbaaz. Responding to this, Nakuul disclosed that there was one scene which literally left him broken at least for some time.

“There are too many scenes which I loved doing,” he began, “but if I had to really pick one from the recent memory it is the Mahi-Shivaay face-off one.” he told.

“There was a time when I was playing a double role in the show as Mahi and Shivaay. There was this one really cool scene when Mahi runs into Shivaay and they have never met before and Mahi is drunk. There was this 13-minute uncut scene to be shot. It was a monologue in which I am talking to actually nobody in front of me because I had to go back to shoot as Shivaay once Mahi is done and it was a 13-minute scene which we just kept rolling. At the end of the scene, I was bawling my eyes as it was a very emotional scene. I just remember that it was therapeutic because the tears did not stop and the directors, I think clapped for me for a good five minutes. I felt so honest and so correct that it was kind of very emotional as I am someone who can usually get in and out of a scene easily but that scene kind of left me a little broken yaar and it felt great to do it, to experience that emotion within me,” he told.

“So that Mahi-Shivaay face-off scene is something very close to me,” revealed Nakuul.

Star Plus' TV show Ishqbaaz accomplished its one year anniversary just lately and amidst their hectic schedule, the team managed to steal some time to rejoice their success. The show revolves around the 'ishqbaazi' of Surbhi Chandna (Anika) and Nakuul Mehta (Shivaay Singh Oberoi) aka Shivika and has managed to climb the TRP ladder within a very short span of time.

While the team is presently flooded with love from fans, we interacted with Surbhi on the one year anniversary of Ishqbaaz. 

Surbhi has now become a famous name on television, but, it was not all easy for her. After going through her share of rough patches, the actor with her hard work and dedication has managed to debunk the apprehensions people had about her.

During the interview, an overjoyed Surbhi while attributing the success of her show to her team, also disclosed that a few had initially written her off as an actor citing that she did not look like a typical heroine material.

"Initially, many people had an image of me that I am not a heroine material, I don't even look like an Indian TV heroine type. Honestly I have a very conventional look, not like a typical daily soap heroine look and initially, I had also put on some weight for the show, so in front of Nakuul [Mehta], I used to always look fat, plump. So, many people wrote me off, initially saying that I won't work," she told.

She further added, "Today when I see those comments change into appreciation, with the kind of acting or looks, or every outfit that I carry, it feels like I have achieved something. Of course, there is a lot to achieve but I have achieved little. I feel great about it."

While we begged to differ here, we spoke to Nakuul himself to ask if he was aware of this.

"Funnily, I also never thought that [she is not heroine type]," told Nakuul. 

He further added, "One day she pointed out, she was asking me that [if she looked fat initially] but I never looked at her that way. To be honest, when you are working with someone every day, I think she looked perfectly fine. But of course she probably got such feedback, but for me, I think if you are a good actor it doesn't matter if you are 5 KG overweight or underweight because eventually, you look good if you act well. So, for me I thought she was perfect yaar, she was perfect for the character she is playing."
